People seem to be forgetting we drew 4-4 in 90 minutes. Losing 7-5 in extra time =\= losing 7-5 in regular time. So all these "facts" are meaningless.

That as a whole isn't meaningless, but the statement is a misrepresentation. We concede three of those when we've already played 90 minutes, that's not the same as conceding 7 in a 75 minute period in a 90 minute game.

I was more referring to statements like the OP's. Not fair to compare a 120 minute game to a 90 minute one.

oh just to add to the insult, so the ref played 6 mins instead of 4...er why even accounting 30 secs for the sub thats still 1.5 mins extra

even better is that Kolscieny was the player who fouled roberts when he was on a yellow and should have received his 2nd yellow and sent off....and he er scored arsenals 3rd later

so, yes we played bad in the 2nd, yes our defending was shocking BUT the ref was a cheat and must have been bribed

the fact that man who should have been sent off scoring a crucial 3rd just makes me feel sick - f off ref hope you choke on your champy and crash your ferrari you bought with the bribe

and TBF we probably should of had a man sent off to can't remembber who it was but in the 2nd half one of our defenders while chasing a ball back towards goal fell in the area and the ball hit his hand both officials missed it had they seen it chances are they would have viewed t as denying a goalscoring oppotunity and it would of been a red card so we had some luck there . you can moan and complain about the ref all you ike but at the end of the day we surrendered a 4-0 lead and we've got no one else to blame but ourselves.

If you look at the game before extra time we were incredibly unlucky. We dominated an admittedly poor Arsenal in the first half, playing some really good football - i was particularly impressed by the McLeary/Gunter partnership, and Leigertwood and Tabb bossed midfield. At 89 minutes we were leading 4-2. Yes, Arsenal were testing us, but we had conceded 1 goal in the first 44 minutes of the second half - we were hardly getting turned over...
We then conceded a goal, scored by a player who should have been sent off minutes earlier for a second yellow.

This led, I think, to our biggest mistake. We tried to do what we did at Watford last year, and hold the ball in the corners for the whole period of added time.....we had two really good attacking free kick opportunities in extra time, but we simply didn't go to it, instead we let our (tired) midfield get sucked into the corners and when we inevitably lost the ball, we got stretched...would've preferred us to have got the ball into the box and gone for a 5-3 win if I'm honest...

Church was brought on (mistake by Brian) which gave the ref the excuse he needed to extend time added on, and then the inevitable happened.

As for extra time, we were a bit buggered...Church was totally ineffective, but with no substitutions available, we were stuck...if only ALF had been brought on in the 91st minute....?

If you look at it in the cold light of day, no we weren't good in the second half, but to quote stats such as 7-1 in 80 minutes really doesn't reflect the reality of the situation - I suspect a lot of neutrals will feel pretty sorry for us given that we were the victims of some pretty contentious refereeing decisions.

Of course, it doesn't make it any easier to take the gloating by the Arsenal fans and inevitably some neutrals, but embarrassed? No!

We were great for the 45 minutes with the score line at 4-0 a true reflection of the game as we had totally outplaying the Gooners who played like they had only just met each other.

A poor headed clearance from Gorkss and it is 4-1 at half time could the comeback be on Arsenal thought so.

At the start of the second half we started the same on the front foot, creating a couple of very good chances early on with a stone wall penalty not given as well.

All change, we dropped deeper and deeper, Arsenal changed their formation and picked up the pace of the game, we started chasing shadows with Arsenal keeping the ball well and creating chance after chance.

The rest is history a 4-4 score line at full time with the equaliser coming in the sixth minute of injury time. Extra time delivered another 4 goals for the fans unfortunately 3 went Arsenal way resulting in a 7-5 defeat.

Move on forget about it, look back in a couple of years and say we were there!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Substitutions re not the only thing to add on injury time. Have you been back over it to add up the time taken up by fouls?

I am talking of ones with delays when there are injuries. Refs can also add on time for time wasting when one team is not letting play re start etc.

I don't buy the most embarrassing result in history thing. That last night really was the ultimate game of two halves (plus extra time! ). Arsenal didn't play the first half and so we dominated them, the second half they came out and played, and quite frankly we let them. If anything this could be a positive result if it leads to changes that preserve our Premier League status. Gorkss was shown to have the turning circle of a Reading Corporation bus, Gunter is a £2.5M defender who can't defend, where was Pearce irrespective of contract issues? Why could a number of buses drive through our midfield? Why did we try and defend a lead when the world and its' wife knows we can't defend. Does Brian need replacing or should we an assistant in the Gorman mould, with knowledge and experience? If we can answer all (or at least some of these questions) we may find we have a better season from now on.

And for the record, my vote for Reading's most embarrassing result is the 3-1 defeat at Elm Park to Tranmere. Whilst not a drubbing, Tranmere had not scored for over ten hours before that, and it probably featured one of our most ridiculous free kicks ever that led to one of their goals.

I know it's Halloween today and maybe that has something to do with it, but I woke up this morning after having the worst nightmare. OK, in my nightmare I had visions that we went 4-0 up against Arsenal reserves and everything was going fine until Theo Walcott pulled a goal back just before half time. But this is when it starts to get nasty. Not only did the Arsenal reserves pull it back to 4-4, they then made it 4-5 in extra time. By this point I was in a cold sweat and although I was still dreaming I could feel my body shake. Then it got even worse. We then equalised making it 5-5 which led me into a false sense of security and then came the sucker punch. In this nightmare the Arsenal reserves then scored a sixth and seventh goal and our defence was a complete mess.

But the worth part of this nightmare was we were playing in front of the Sky Sports cameras and the whole country could see us implode.

I woke up in a cold sweat still, my limbs aching from the torture. I turned to my wife and said "darling, I've had the worst nightmare, I feel sick. Thank god it was just a dream".

And then she turned on the news...
