cmonurz Vision Royal Ginger Don't make excuses. That was absolutely shocking, an utter disgrace, and awful to watch. Tabb ran out of steam and we took the biggest shafting I've ever seen a team get for 40 minutes. Gunter was crap, Gorkss was an embarrassment, and Ledge went for a wander after half time. We only got into the position we did because of an un-gelled team with a hopeless goalkeeper.
Again, completely ignoring the 4 goals we scored and the shafting we gave them in the first 40 minutes.
It should have been more than enough, it wasn't and Mcd and the players will have to have a long hard look at why it wasn't but I also hope they don't forget or dismiss how well we played for the first 40 minutes as you seem to have done because its just as important to remember what we did right as what we did wrong.
One of the things that struck me when we were 4-0 is that we hadn't actually played brilliantly. We played well enough, but we hardly tore them to pieces with our brilliant football. The opposite of your point in fact, I think 4-0 masked the fact that it was just a 'perfect storm' of a first 45 minutes that went in our favour.
We also hit the post in that time. You don't score 4 goals in 40 minutes without playing well. Even in the first 10 minutes of the second half Leigertwood had a great chance, we forced the keeper into another save and could/perhaps should have had a penalty. You can't just dismiss this portion of the game as if it never happened.
We don't necessarily have the players to "rip teams to shreds" in the way a side like Arsenal can (and did only a few weeks ago V Saints) but we utterly dominated that first half by pressurising high up the pitch, forcing them into mistakes and then being pretty clinical with our finishing. That's brilliant football.
They got a shafting in that first 40 minutes whether it meets your aesthetic criteria or not.
