This feels a bit like finding out that your Ferrari has a dodgy clutch and getting a Ford Fiesta as a replacement

Yeah 'poor Church' and all that, but equally it's a realistic assessment. Rhodes got 40 goals last season, Church has 29 in his entire career.

They're comparing him to James Vaughan, who's out injured, there.

It'll be good for him to get away from Reading. Hopefully this will be a chance for him to focus on playing football and away from his off the field difficulties.

Pepe the Horseman I've always had faith in Church, and stuck up for him over the years. He's repaid me by being consistently shit, so he can do one.

Ha ha, quite amusing!
He seems a nice enough lad, but sadly his level isn't good enough for RFC (as in Reading, not Rochdale!). Even if we go down he'll struggle, so he's better off as a top half league one, or lower championship player.
He hasn't really improved over the years and lacks the physical presence that Long and Hunt always had even when 'fans' were doubting their ability.
Good luck to him, at least he's not bitching about the club on twitter etc!

He seemed to have lots of potential, but when he didn't get a run in the team it just evaporated - occasional substitute cameos weren't really enough, so good luck to him and I hope he fins his right level and a chance to shine at HTFC - it is Halifax we're talking about, isn't it?

Taken aback to see Church on the Football League Show, bursting down the wing and delivering a pinpoint cross for a goal. I didn't know he could do that.

It must be something he's always had in his locker, as Coppell saw fit to play him wide on the right against Burnley in the P/O's.
Maybe that could be his position?

He played nearly all his loan football out wide in front 3s or midfield 5s.

Simon Church hints at making permanent move away from Reading

Simon Church has hinted that he may be forced to secure a permanent switch away from Reading in order to get games.

The Wales international has linked up with Championship side Huddersfield Town on a short-term loan after slipping down the pecking order at the Madejski Stadium.

Church will initially spend one month with the Terriers, and impressed on his debut against Barnsley over the weekend as he provided an assist in a 1-0 derby win.

The 23-year-old admits he has room for improvement after taking in his first 90 minutes of the season, but feels he will only get better if he is playing regularly.

"I know I'm only here for a month at the moment, but I want to give it my all," Chruch, who is out of contract at the end of the season, said in the Reading Post.

"I've been waiting for my chance to play football and now I'm going to give my all.

"Perhaps something will happen at the end of it, but that's up to everyone else. I will keep my head down, work hard and take my chances when they come.

"I've been playing for Wales and in the reserves. However, it's not the same as coming here and playing at the weekend. I felt strong, I lagged a bit towards the end, but it was a tough game and I'm pleased to get through the 90 minutes.

"I was just really pleased to play and show people what I can do. Hopefully that is the start of good things."

I actually quite like the guy, but the club should have been encouraging this a year ago. Too many players in front of him and our style of play not suiting him, the club should have been encouraging a move a year ago.
