Nice article on Obita in the local Portsmouth press.

Good to see it was Reading who insisted he came back, the right move after such little game time.

D'Ath goes on a 1-month-loan to Cheltenham:

He played in League 1 last year, seems abit of a step down for one of our brightest prospects. Experience is what counts though I guess!

Seem to recall he had an injury that kept him out of most of pre-season so he's probably only just getting back up to speed. A good month or two at league one level and there's nothing to stop him getting a few months in the Championship at the end of the year. Still at just 19 he's got plenty of time.

I'd say we have a number of players we currently consider more promising than him atm.

Plus we want him to get games straight away, and the problem with going to League 1 sides at that age is that they often find themselves on the bench (eg Obita, Hector, Ugwu)

Loan Report from this week.

Karl Sheppard not even in the squad as he's not rated as one of Accrington's best five loanees :| Brett Williams again can't get off the Woking bench :|

Churchy with an assist for Huddersfield against Barnsley yesterday and was "a constant threat" according to reports.

As I said Church played well and got an assist so well done to him. Couldn't care less how Barnsley have been doing recently.

^^^^ this

Although I'm disappointed that Sheppard has proved to be totally useless so far, the fact he can't even get in the squad now (although in part due to loan rules) is particularly disappointing.

Latest loan report went up on TTE Tuesday

http://www.thetilehurstend.com/loan-rep ... ovember-13

Overall it's just been a very bad year for our loanees so far. MacDonald lasted only a handful of games at AFC Wimbledon, Obita hardly got a kick at Pompey and Sheppard and Williams have been dreadful. Hector's now been pushed way out of the reckoning at Shrewsbury as has Mills at Burnley and even Lawson D'Ath's has now picked up a knock to derail his spell at Cheltenham.

Mikkel Andersen has done pretty well though.

On the bright side I guess these disappointments may help give the Academy lot a kick up the arse but it's still a shame.

agreed theyre probably shit
but you have to remember that loans are often seen as back up only for clubs, who would prefer(understandably) to concentrate on their own players(or loanees they have a chance of signing permenantly)

Yeah that's fair, though in the case of Ugwu and Sheppard they're both being kept out because clubs have 5/6 other loanees they'd rather include which is pretty poor. Similarly Shrewsbury went off and signed another loanee because they'd lost faith in Hector.

I'd like to see Tishbola head out on loan ASAP because he looks a great midfield prospect and is someone I could easily see making a big breakthrough this season or next. It's also a big shame D'Ath got injured because he could have been a central midfield option off the bench during this current crisis :(

Hector's just a bit too raw to be playing week in week out for a side fighting relegation. One week he'd be great the other he'd be shit. At least the talent is there, hopefully the consistency will come with experience.

True, I saw him against Basingstoke when the development side lost 5-0 and he mixed the sublime with the awful. Hopefully the consistency will come as he gets older.
