They had to call off Cagliari v Roma today because the chairman told the fans to come to their temporary stadium even though they lost the appeal last night for the ground to be passed as safe.

Real Madrid win 5-1 against Depor. Ronaldo hat trick, Di Maria and Pepe.

Sidenote: Manuel Pablo has played for Depor for 19 years which is longer than Madrid's Varane has been alive.

Good stat, but you can do that with Ryan Giggs and every young player in the world.

Paolo Maldini managed 25 years as a player at AC Milan, can't think of another player that can match that stat

Noticed that Bayern Munich are now pulling in a 71,000 capacity crowd for home games, it was 69,000 last couple of seasons. Must have had some kind of small extension to the ground somewhere.......or the corporates are now being counted.

They didn't used to get such massive regular gates in the Olympic stadium, although tbf, it was well past its sell-by date for a club of that size.

Bit of a strange footballing weekend for me, I have to say. I was in Hoffenheim on Friday night for a roller-coaster ride of a game between Hoffenheim and Greuther Fürth : it finished 3-3, and then yesterday I went to see FC Nürnberg at home to FC Augsburg in a dire 0-0. There are 4 Bavarian teams in the top flight this season - it is possible that three of them (Nürnberg, Fürth & Augsburg) will get relegated - the fourth one (Bayern) looks like walking away with the title.

Fürth at home to Bremen (who won 4-0 this weekend) next Saturday. Maybe Fürth will finally score a goal at home in the 1. Bundesliga (they have failed to score in their four home games so far this season).

Archie, I appreciate your effort and 'finding a team' is something I have often tried to do over the years, but surely the way to do that is to go to the stadium, watch games and savour the atmosphere somewhat. Watching games on TV is all very well and good, but the blog didn't read to me like one written by someone who really cares about football. I am sorry to be so critical but the blog did not convince me you will follow Polonia for very long this season, or learn to really care about what happens to them.

Looking forward to being proven wrong

All criticism is appreciated! I do indeed intend to follow the team at the stadium as well. That is, if my timetable allows

Polonia seem to play a whole host of their games on Sunday when I have to travel to Krakow. We'll see how it goes...

So pencilled in my first Polonia game. Will be going to watch them against Gornik Zabrze on the 17th of November. Can't wait!

That stuff happens all the time down here, they're all like Suarez, falling over constantly and writhing in "pain".. that's just the way it is.

I watched the Spanish highlights last week and there can't be a league in Europe that has worse behaviour in it. couldn't stomach watching it all the time.

It's comical in Spain, when I had Sky Sports I used to watch a reasonable amount of La Liga and there rarely was a game that ended 11 v 11. Referees are pretty sh*t at conrtrolling players as well, fans shout for anything regardless of whether it's a clean challenge, just an utterly blinkered, bent game to watch.

Can't fault the quality on show though, although the TV rights deal has destroyed any semblance of competition at the top of the division.
