winchester_royal Everton fans were unbelievably shite. Not too many will bring a full away following and get outsung by us

Only in the second half - the first time I heard a Reading song today was after 38 minutes. The song was "your support is fukking shit" - and my irony meter exploded at that point!

Still more songs than I heard in the 1st half from Everton.

Surely the classiest moment from the crowd was when the Everton lot started chanting "going down going down going down" and we replied "so are we so are we so are we"

Maguire Walter Mitty's making it up again.

2-0 Reading and Le Fondre to score first at 100-1?

Jesus, it's not hard to check that those were the odds. And it was a LOSING bet.

What the fack is Walter Mitty about that?

Incidentally, I kept the slip.

The odds for Reading were very good.

Roberts to score the only goal of the game was 66-1

Yeah in all fairness RFC were 4-1 to win on Betfair and I was saying at the game that was a price i'd be all over if I were an away fan.

Federici 7- made several good saves, nothing amazing but if he had had a bad day then we'd have lost by a lot.
Gunter 5- poor defensively. In his defence he was utterly exposed by McAnuff, but several of the errors were totally his fault, like dwelling on the ball. I think he should keep his place though, no good switching between two fragile right backs every few matches.
Morrison: first half 6, second half 9. Made some unnecessary fouls, missed some headers, and made a few mistakes, though how much of that was because he was in a partnership with Gorkss is debateable. Fortunately he improved dramatically in the second half, making some brilliant tackles and blocks and winning his headers. My concern is that he might be our answer to Jamie Carragher- great at last gasp tackles and blocks, but only has to make them so often because he could be better at reading the game. Imagine him with Pearce's brain...
Gorkss 4- should have been sent off for two yellows in the first half. Repeatedly at fault for the first goal. Possibly the worst game I've seen him have for Reading. What on earth has happened to him?
Shorey 7- defensively he made a few minor errors, but not as many as the other defenders. He was good going forward.
McAnuff 5- poor, his worst game for a long time. I thought he'd been put on the right to deal with Baines, but he didn't. He just pointed at him. Going forward he did very little. Switch him back to the left and make Kebe the first choice for dealing with attacking full backs from now on.
Tabb/Legs 5 first half, 7 second half- both anonymous in the first half, leaving the defence exposed. Again, much improved after the break, disrupting a few attacks, and even getting forward. Tabb was even leading the line at times.
HRK 7- not Kebe quality, but much better than McAnuff yesterday.
ALF 8- two goals, our best attacking threat.
Roberts 7- poor in the first half, his usual self in the second.

That is possibly overly negative. I'm delighted that we've got three points on the board, but we need to improve defensively.

urz13  Cummings can actually take a first touch that doesn't involve giving the ball away to an opposing player in an extremely dangerous position.

So can Gunter, what's your point? :|

Gunter took a terrible touch, gave it away to Pienaar who ran through and luckily shot wide. On another day it would have been 2-0 to them.

Of course Cummings has never made any such errors..

No, the idea that Cummings is Cafu mk. II is rattLOLing me.

Gunter ain't perfect but Cummings is no better. They're both decent RB's, Gunter is the man in possession of the shirt and while we are continuing to get results making changes to the defence would be counter-productive.

Yawn.

Overly harsh assessment of his performance IMO (as mentioned elsewhere, his long sprint back and great sliding challenge in stoppage time was critical and worthy of a mark alone!). Also, there is a flaw with your solution. Kebe is beginning to make Anderton look resilient!

Anyone else think the canoe came of age yesterday? I was pretty impressed by the way Hal bustled and muscled his way down the wing. I think part of it is physical development, because his chest seems to have grown forward and his arse backwards, giving him the centre of gravity of a runaway roadsweeping truck. In fact, with that chest he is looking more like the pigeon in Valiant with every game. And I liked the proper fukoff sense of attitude bristling off him, repeatedly going again against defenders trying to get a foot in. If he keeps this up, then we are right mob-handed at wing.

RoyalBlue Once again McAnuff got some stick from some sections of the crowd. However, he showed that he can and does lead by example in the last minute or so of stoppage time. Their player looked like he was breaking free in a really dangerous position on our right until Jobi came hurtling back from a long way out to slide in with a perfectly timed challenge, not only dispossessing their player but winning a throw in the process.

one of his least effective games going forward, but worked his socks off, lost count of the gut busting runs across pitch, or back to cover an out of position player/stop a run.
proper captains stuff.

I was fascinated by the way we got back into the game yesterday. One factor, I think, is that, having been men against boys in the first half, Everton came out in the second half and underestimated us. But secondly, I gradually noticed in the second half that Tabb and Legs were starting to get some joy. I began to watch Fellaini and Pienaar in particular and I realised that they were getting worn down by the fact that Tabb and Ledge wouldn't leave them alone, like hyenas pestering gnus. Our boys won a psychological battle there and depleted their spirit.

Motty was saying last week that Everton could finish top four, but I rule this out now that I've seen cracks in the mentality of the likes of Pienaar, Jelavic, and the much vaunted Fellaini. Never-say-die is not just a cliché for us: it won us that game.

Royal Rother Morrison and Tabb eh?

Now revered as stars of the team, weeks ago labelled as utterly incapable of making any kind of contribution in the PL.

Love it.

Are you making stuff up again?

You don't come on here often do you? This was last week ffs.

cmonurz I hope this puts to bed the myth that Tabb and Leigertwood are a viable PL midfield.

Well you've found one quote.....congratulations

theres a whole thread of them on morrison, saying it was pointless keeping himn here, and tabbs been slagged all season, even when he plays well, even after yesterday, & on this thread

SPARTA
Man Friday One again, hundreds of our fans leave with 5 mins to go. WTF! Just unbelievable. (Saw a dozen or so leave with 10 minutes to go!)

That has always been the case though. The stadium is in the worst possible place for 24000 fans to get away from. We do well to keep it to just a couple of hundred that go early.

always get up at the whistle, always home 3/4 of an hour later

really no excuse imo

people can do what they want, they pay their money, but dont use rubbish excuses
