Uri Geller Card Trick

I'm getting old but one of my most distinctive memories as a kid was Uri Geller doing a magic card trick at Elm Park it it being pretty ridiculous. It's come up elsewhere in the board but doesn't appear on google or anything ...

Can someone fill in the details for me please?

Just remember the red cards being held up when the player got sent off. No idea who we were playing or what the score was.

didnt he claim he moved the ball infront of the penalty spot for an opposition player or something?

yeh but that was an England game, this was a Tv show and he was filmed in the crowd at elm park saying he was going to help the ball towards the goal.

It never worked.

There was also stuff of him at his home in Sonning, I'm guessing it was some sort of biographical programme by these recollections.

This was mid-90s, a distant and heady time, britpop on the radio, global hypercolour just receding from the thoughts of the fashion conscious. Reading's number 1 celebrity fan, Uri Geller gave everyone in the stands a set of cards. At half time, he basically psychically projected a color and thought the entire stand would all pick the same card.

They didn't.

We won 1-0 to an own goal iirc and a player got sent off. The stand then all did pick one color card to show as the guy trudged off the pitch.

I remember them talking about Gellar on Have I Got News For You one week and Angus Deayton said that he was helping us through "positive energy" at which point they cut away to a picture of the league table which showed we were bottom.
