Sold Out

by Irvinchangeyaname » 17 Nov 2012 19:44

According to the ticketing system, Everton was sold out. As a regular away game attender I thought I may take in the 'delights' of a home game.

Watching it on Sky Sports (the cameras were facing the north stand) there were empty seats everywhere. Can these empty seats really all be down to season ticket holders not turning up????

A stadium record crowd against Everton in November possibly.

No, it was a record attendance. 24,181 was it?

The thing with that is, there wasn't 24,181 there. There was 24,181 tickets sold.

West Stand was also patchy.

Where do they find these extra seats from? Surely if we're sold out and tickets sold, it should be the same attendance every time?

There were two empty rows in the Everton section which I think is for the disabled platform viewing. Watching the game on tv there were plenty of empty seats.

Expected in the Premier League as there must be so many seats bought up by people with a passing interest in football that they just pick and choose games. Also imagine a fair few companies would have bought a few STs for clients then add in those who have other commitments/illness etc and there you go.

Could have sworn we'd had 24190 once.

There were four empty seats in my immediate area where regulars ST holders weren't there, in one case at least due to the couple concerned being on holiday.....
There are loads of reasons at the moment why people might struggle to make games - illness is probably a prime one at this time of year (both of my kids, and me for that matter, seem to have lurched from one "bug" to another since the schools went back in September)....

I had to buy a ticket for my son who can only make a handful of games in a season. Didn't get round to it until two weeks ago when the ticketing site said it was sold out.

I rang the ticket office who asked how many I wanted (one) and they came back with 3-4 alternative seats. Always worth ringing them IMHO.

Even if a season tickey holder doesn't go, the seat is counted as attending. Thats why the attendances are so high even though you can see loads of empty seats.

Bloody ridiculous then. Do they want to sell all the tickets or not?

What's the seat attending to?

I think that when there are only single seats available, the club take the match off sale of the ticketing site - simply because very few people want to buy single seats.

Surely when only singles are left demand would increase significantly?

Demand is unchanged - but the number of people who are prepared to buy a single seat is much lower than those looking for 2 or more together.

What I mean is - people who wouldn't have otherwise considered sitting alone now will as there's no other option.

I only ever get a single seat. I really can't see any reason why they can't put a message on the website advising fans that single seats are available by ringing the ticket office? I would have done this for the Everton game. Instead all they had was a sold out message together with information on how I could join a waiting list should tickets become available.

I repeat my earlier comment - bloody ridiculous.
