For Villa, and with who is fit, It should be:

-------------------------------- Federici --------------------------------

Cummings ----------- Morrison ----------- Pearce ----------- Shorey

McCleary ---------- Tabb ------------- Gunnarsson ------- HRK/Kebe

------------------------- Roberts ---- Le Fondre ------------------------

Gorkss, Gunter and Leigertwood have got to be dropped.

Gunnar will keep it tight at the back and not be so careless in possession like Leigertwood is, every single week.
Cummings is far better than Gunter and should never have come out of the side. Again Brian not knowing his best players, or how to handle unhappy players being left out of the side.
Pearce would give his all every game. Play him until such time as he is sold, if he chooses to run down his contract and we want to cash in.

Lovely hot donuts!
SCIAG
W&E Royal Taylor is terrible, i'd rather play Sal Bibbo. Can't we play Mikkel Andersen?

Fairly sure we didn't register Andersen.

Don't know if we did but would be surprised if we didn't as we only have 25 overage players on our books. It would seem silly not to.

Andersen is indeed on our squad list. Play him I say, he's had more football in his career than Taylor, he's always been a number three.

Brian doesn't have the bollocks to drop Federici for a third choice keeper.

I wouldn't want the managers job because I'd have to hear know nothings like you moan all the time. If all this managerial stuff is so obvious to you then go and get your UEFA pro licence and become one.

marcusopp Interesting to see that everyone has included Tabb in their teams, despite slating him earlier this season and last......

I don't recall slating him specifically in either. The combination of him and Karacan, now that's a different story.

I would personally go for:
McCarthy
McAnuff Morrison Mariappa Shorey
Kebe Tabb Ledge HRK
Hunt Roberts

With Guthrie, The POG and McCleary coming on second half for fresh legs around the 60 minute mark.
Subs: Guthrie, POG, McLeary, Feds, Gorkks, Alfie, Gunter

Utter lolz at people who say what subs they would make and at what times. How do you know whats going to happen during the game?!

FWIW, I'd go with..

--------------------Feds--------------------
Cummings Morrison Mariappa Shorey
------------------Guthrie------------------
McCleary --- Tabb --- Ledge --- HRK
-------------------Roberts-----------------

It frustrates me when people think Guthrie is an attacking midfielder.. he isn't. He comes deep to pick the ball up and looks to create attacks from deep, he's more of a deep lying playmaker.

That argument would be good, if only McDermott looked like he had the faintest idea what he was doing this season.

Ian Royal Dread to think what it'll actually be, but I'd quite like to see this:

....................Federici
..Mariappa..Morrison.Pearce..Shorey..
HRK*..........Guthrie..Tabb....McAnuff
.............Roberts..Le Fondre

Taylor, Harte, Cummings, Leigertwood, McCleary*, Pogrebnyak, Hunt.

Gunter and Cummings have both failed. Mariappa has experience at right back and a bit of pace. He hasn't looked great in the centre, but he may prove better than the other two.
Gorkss has been terrible, Pearce was good early doors. It's a no brainer. If Pearce can't play then Mariappa has to come into the middle instead and we can toss a coin for Gunter / Cummings at RB.
Leigertwood has been poor, his reaction speed has not been good enough and he keeps giving the ball away. We need to pass better and use midfield more. Guthrie needs to get back into the squad if only as an option off the bench to pad things out and slow it down.
ALF and Roberts aren't doing too badly, although they aren't doing brilliantly. ALF is the sort who will keep popping up with chances and putting a few away though. And Roberts holds the ball and brings us forward better than any other striker we have. We need to give that partnership time to bloom.

Of course. Ideally I'd also like McCarthy in goal and Karacan available for selection too.

*or McCleary, or Kebe. Not really fussed. HRK isn't a right winger, but he can cut inside to shoot with his left maybe. He's not played badly the last few games and I thought McCleary was mediocre when he came on. Anyway, McAnuff has been poor since he was switched to the right when he was looking good working with Shorey before.

Yep, another taker for Mariappa at right back, plus Guthrie and Pearce back in the starting XI.

I'd put:

Federici
Cummings Marriapa Morrison Shorey
Kebe Tabb Leighterwood McCanuff
LeFondre Roberts

To bring on as subs: Pog, McCleary, Hunt

If Kebe isn't fit, McCleary starts and Robson-Kanu comes off the bench. If Guthrie is fit he starts in place of Tabb (he needs a rest).

Time for McDermott to show if he got any bo**ocks with his team selection for the Villa game.

Gorkss has been a liability all season. Pearce or Mariappa in please.

McAnuff as captain you offer very little, time for you to go.... Kebe on the right HRK on left.

The midfield is a shambles we don’t have a lot of options here so heal the rift with Guthrie and play him.

As to Fed's or McCarthy between the sticks, McCarthy must play when fit.

Didn't Guthrie only start training yesterday? Haven't been out for a few weeks there is no way he will be fit for tomorrow.

We need to be more solid. 4-4-2 away from home doesn't work. We were so narrow on Saturday that they were having a field day on wide.

I'd go for:

Federici
Cummings Morrison Pearce Shorey
Kebe Tabb Leigertwood HRK
McAnuff
Roberts

Depends if the Kebster is fit, if not then McCleary to start.

Subs: Taylor, Gorkss, Harte, Mariappa, McCleary (ALF if Kebe is unfit),Hunt, Pogrebnyak

To me Guthrie has played some of the best football when he is in a more attacking midfield role. He played some great stuff in the middle of the Newcastle team with Nicky Butt who certainly was the one to drop deeper.

I think West Brom Away was the game before the bust up/injury and it was clear that Guthrie was playing as a very deep midfielder. All this resulted in was him banging 50/60 yard balls straight out of play. It would be interesting to know what the conflict of opinion is between BM and Guthrie.

Why are people continually putting Pearce and Guthrie in the starting 11 for games?

When has Brian ever started a player that hasn't featured in the match day squad the previous game? I'd wager never.
