BraisingsteakRoyal Why are people continually putting Pearce and Guthrie in the starting 11 for games?

When has Brian ever started a player that hasn't featured in the match day squad the previous game? I'd wager never.

Well there's Pogrebnyak, Gunter, Shorey, McLeary for starters.... more along the lines you're talking about there's Kebe for sure.

This game should be interesting, we can't defend and villa can't score. Don't care who's in the team as long as gorkks is left back at hogwood park.

I will support Brian through thick and thin – even if we get relegated.

BUT even I have to admit that the continued exclusion of Pearce and Cummings is baffling at the very least. Neither have signed new contracts as far as I am aware and so could be off for free in the summer but relegation would cost us far more.

I also think that much as I like Jobi that we need to play HRK (who has looked lively) on the left and McCleary or Kebe (if fit) on the right. HRK simply looks the better prospect on the left and Jobi is definitely not as effective on the right.

This is now a "must win" game so we need our best team out in which case I would go:

McCarthy (if fit) or Fed
Cummings
Pearce
Morrison
Shorey
Kebe (if fit) or McCleary
Legs
Tabb
HRK
Roberts
ALF

Don't talk out of your arse. The new signings all played in pre season games. Kebe possibly did it once (last season) and still looked like he was injured for about the next month.

I'll have a tenner each with anyone who thinks Guthrie or Pearce will start tomorrow night.

tbh it doesn't matter who starts, they are all just as bad as each other and we will yet again lose after taking the lead :roll:

4-0 against Arsenal - No McAnuff

McAnuff comes on at 4-1......we know what happened next.

Has the ability to be sensational when he wants to, No doubting his ability. Its using it and having the cofidence. If he spent half as much time tracking back and running at defenders as he did playing with his armband he would be class.

Drop McAnuff to give him a kick up the arse. If Pearce isnt playing then give the armband to Shorey.

McCarthy (If fit) or Federici
Cummings- Pearce (If Gorkss is playing we are doomed before the first whistle is blown)- Morrison- Shorey
McCleary- Guthrie (If fit and in a dream)- Tabb- McAnuff( All the hate for McAnuff but he is still getting assists, I think he is just an easy target to get peoples anger out, just fickle)
Le Fondre- Pog (Just because Roberts won't be as fit as he should be and another dream would be if we play to his feet close to the box like I said a dream. We will try and hoof it up to him, :roll:)

======================== FEDERICI ========================

CUMMINGS ====== MARIAPPA ======== MORRISON ====== SHOREY

========================= HARTE =========================

MCCLEARY ======= GUTHRIE ===== TABBY ======= ROBSON-KANU

================ LE FONDRE == POGREBNYAK ================

Harte wouldn't pace in that role. Keep it tight, get his foot in, get the ball out wide/forwards (what a treat) and he's there for the set-pieces instead of Shorey who's corners are laughable, or McAnuff who's are even worse.

So essentially, drop the captain, play Marriapa and Cummings togteher for the first time, play Morrison on his weaker foot, play Harte in a role he's never played in before, bring a non-match fit Guthrie in and drop Roberts?

In.

Edit: Oh yes and play an extra man. If you're going to do that that you'd be better off playing Federici and McCarthy together imho.

Personally I think having 12 men is the most concerning part of that selection! I'm happy with the back 4 but it goes downhill a bit after that; I'm especially not convinced by the strikeforce.

The captain who is he wasn't the captain would have been dropped long ago, yes. He needs a kick up the arse, and dropping him will do that.

he was definitely off the pace in that game, almost disinterested, but one thing you cant criticise him for is not tracking back, it's his forte

Guthrie in the holding role to dictate the play and always be an option for the ever panicking midfield pare.
