MH:

I’m not refusing to answer anything, just dealing with one thing at a time – the stupidity of your dismissal of others opinion was what bothered me, not your opinion that you have explained.

I’ve not suggested we should have neglected positions to bring in better quality in key areas, so I can’t answer that. (though I have said I hope we spend more money on 1 or 2 in Jan, rather than spreading funds over 3 or 4).

My argument was that we have brought in cut-price players and that is showing in our results so far this season.

I can’t take Brian’s word that he spent his budget as, like any manager, he is susceptible to spin.

And I can’t take your word that no more money is available as, like any aging hippy, you are susceptible to major psychological flaws...

It is not an irrelevance to point out that, if we truly are to believe Anton and Brian that it is Reading’s ambition to cement themselves in the Premier League, more money will be required as doing things cheaply has failed in the past and is failing again.

January is approaching and two scenarios present themselves: 1) we don’t invest and we settle for what we have (in which case I can see us struggling to stay up, and would question the financial acumen of that) or 2) we do invest, which would reinforce my opinion that we didn’t prepare ourselves properly in the first place.

As it stands, Brian has made some bad signings and it doesn’t look like the club has spent enough to keep them in the top flight. Both valid criticisms. Where does the money come from? Where does any clubs money come from?! And the value of remaining a prem team next season cannot be ignored.

We shall see in January if I am right. I hope I am, as that will see the investment we should have made pre-season finally being injected into the club. I hope it’s not too late.

think we only need- are likely to only get 1-2 in the window
and i, like u
and every other fan
would like them to be quality.

we did buy value players rather than chase over valued ones, and this, i agree has affected our results
but given that the budget was set and spent, im not sure what we could do differently

until i hear from the club that brian is a liar, and there was loads of cash available in the summer and he refused to spend it, im going to go with the only source who has had anything to say on the matter, and that is brian.

its not that i 100% believe everything he says. its simply that there is no other information out there, and if you go with that your arguing over utterly made up conjecture etc

there are other ways to cement prem football than massive up front initial investment, and that is the gradual evolution using sound management and repeated relegation promotion cycles as displayed by west brom.

if he doesnt have the money to spunk on top of the 10 million in the last window, im not sure what else you want from him?

i agree totaly there will be more money to spunk available in january, but it wont be much. imo it will be ~5 million for fees loans and wages. with which its possible to buy 1 decent defender and loan another attacker/midfielder, which is enough to do the job imo

After tonight's performance, I've officially changed my opinion and I'm in the 'he's got to go camp' before the damage is too much

Like hell he will, it will be the usual "we gave everything, lacked a bit of luck, we have to move on" shit, make no mistake Villa were the worse side we played this season.

Simply this cant go on, nail in the coffin tonight was the complete mindless substitution of Roberts, by a country mile our best and only player that was causing Villa any problems and we take him off, surly if you are going to do that then you bring on the other big forward Pog, and not finish up with 5' 6" front two, looked daft,. brian you have done great for us but sadly at this moment of time in your managerial career you are out of your league, do the honourable thing if the owner isnt going to do it for you.

Boys didn't help themselves and despite being a fan of his was shocked at the amount of times Tabb gave the ball away.

What I don't understand is why Pog wasn't brought on when we were chasing a goal and also why on earth Roberts was brought off?

Shocking decisions once again

Does anyone watching that seriously think we with the current managment we can stay up?

AZ too late mate. Leave BMD in charge and save your cash as we are simply not good enough. Should have realised your chance in the summer and bought more wisely.

Once he admits that Leigertwood is a f*cking liability, destroys any game play and f*cks up every pass - I'll be back on his side

Lacoste

Worst team bar us I've seen this season and they beat us. Midfield awful.

Where was our expensive Russian striker? I love you brian but we need someone in to assess tthis squad before jan and then make shrewd additions. Its clear you don't know what it takes to sign the correct for this leage and integrate them into the side.

Ideal
juanpablo you cannot turn this around. I doubt the next person will be able to either

So why should we sack him then?
We've got championship quality players, and the league position reflects that. Sacking the manager won't help, if anything this team is overperforming currently.
If we had a different manager we'd be losing by larger margins. That's what will happen, if we change manager now, we'll be losing by larger margins, instead of turning things around for the better, they'll turn for the worse.
And you people probably aren't smart enough to understand that.

If we go down though we need to build a new team with new players that WILL be able to compete if we get promoted again.

Will Brian be able to take part in this revolution when it would involve ridding the squad of his faves like McAnuff and Ledge?

I doubt it.

I'm all for giving him more time atm, but if we do go down I'm not sure I want him in charge of the rebuilding process.

I'm not convinced changing the manager is going to have any affect tbh. We simply aren't good enough for this division.

It's far more fun watching us get here than actually being here.
