Ideal Why the hell is McAnuff our captain?
He must be the least commanding and inspiring captain we've ever had. Add to that his "performances" on the pitch leave a lot to be desired.
I think we should stick him on the bench and make Roberts or Morrison captain, they're the only ones with any real drive on there.

Crotts The captain of a team should be:
1. Someone who is a definite starter every game because of their quality and reliability
2. Someone who does not make ridiculous decisions when on the ball.
3. Someone who can inspire others with his play.
4. Someone who is consistently good. ^
5. Someone with tactical awareness.
6. Someone who can chastise his team mates and tell them what to do.
There is only one player in the Reading squad who meets the majority of these criteria and that is Shorey. Give him the armband for Saturday before it's too late.

I am still here PistolPete, and I for one was a Gorkss backer last season.
Football is a business if you can’t lead at the top level you gets axed.
McDermott needed to make changes and bring in more experience at this level so a player with experience ad inspirational leadership may well of help us!!

Alan Partridge McDermott could make himself captain it's a pointless positon.
The problem is Mcanuff is one out of about 8 or 9 players Reading have that have never been good enough for the PL throughout their career.

TTC1871 After watching the embarrassing Sunday league football last night I decided to join this forum.
I've support Mc Dermott for a while, but after last night he has to go.
1. No defenders guarding front or back posts last night at any corner they had.
2. Shorey taking every throw/free kick we had & taking ages to do so.
3. Our "fantastic captain" was non existent throughout the match. I don't know how he gets a game, let alone the arm band.
4. Legsofwood & Tabb are without doubt the worst midfield pairing in the league.
5. The only players who are fit to wear the Reading shirt after last night are Morrison, Mariappa & the messiah that is Roberts.
Anyone agree? McDermott is a great guy- but bought shite in the pre season. Gotta go
