Big Ern Alan Curbishley would probably the best bet, unless Anton is going to throw serious cash at the team.

feel really sorry for Brian. Great guy, done wonders for the club, but thus appears to be a step to far. I reckon he will stay for the Man U game and then be given the elbow.

Curbishley is a good shout, but Dick Advocaat for me.

I don't feel sorry for Brian. He's not good enough, or experienced enough, so he can go somewhere else, with what he has learnt here, and will improve. End of the day, he hasa job to do and he's failed, don't feel sorry for him, don't feel anything for him.

He'll be lucky to make Manutd

Ideal
juanpablo you cannot turn this around. I doubt the next person will be able to either

So why should we sack him then?
We've got championship quality players, and the league position reflects that. Sacking the manager won't help, if anything this team is overperforming currently.
If we had a different manager we'd be losing by larger margins. That's what will happen, if we change manager now, we'll be losing by larger margins, instead of turning things around for the better, they'll turn for the worse.
And you people probably aren't smart enough to understand that.

well you missed the end off my quote "but we have got to try"

we need to take a gamble clearly.

Lacoste I wouldn't want Hughes but to be fair to him, he did really well with two smaller clubs in Fulham and Blackburn.

Exactly

He's not a man who can handle big egos so should be ok here

I'd take Dick all day long. 8)

But we have no chance of getting him (wishing otherwise though!).

Look we are going down. Accept it. So lets not spend massive amounts on a new manager lets do it the Reading way and appoint Eamon Dolan.

note to AZ: hang fire on inceasing the stadium size to 35,000 and also revisit your plan for RFC to be a top 10 team in the next few years. Readjust your aims mate.

Agreed, that really was complete and utter garbage, devoid of any ideas or quality. Really need fresh ideas now before it's too late*

*Think it is already

Think you might be right. Twitter went into meltdown after Saturday's shambles, and now tonight. I think the fans are split, but there is plenty of mindless fans that will make themselves heard on Saturday. I've too much respect for Brian to boo the poor bloke, but agree it's time for change. He's made a name for himself here and wont be shirt of offers in the near future.

Appointing Eamon Dolan is a genuinely interesting option.

No new Manager could do anything with that lot.

NO MIDFIELD ALTERNATIVES ON THE BENCH. For a Prem Club, that is abysmal.

Splashing of the cash

Who is actually going to want to come to our club, even if we have the cash? Relegation never feels good..

As far as games are concerned it is the end of November and we have just seen the team lose two 'must win' and extremely winnable games. They were also the type of games that the eternal optimists were assuring us we would win.

Unfortunately despite his great achievements of last season McDermott is clearly out of his depth this season evidenced by his poor transfer dealings, fallouts with players and results during the first third of the season.

It puts a new sense into the takeover statement that 'we now don't need to sell our best players'

We might not get much choice if we are relegated.
