Feel worse for the player than I do for the club to be honest, daft as they may sound. The lad's had to experience a lot of setbacks and bad fortune in his short career already.

Mainly because he was dropped for a goalkeeper who isn't good enough to clean his boots.

Federici isn't good enough for this level, it's already been proven.

Lacoste

I don't like Fedders but our keeping area is the least of our worries.

Dont panic!!

Mikkel Andersen is actually our best keeper on the books. Given game time he would be better than both McCarthy and Feds.

If that fails we have always got Stuart Taylor

Is this true? If so, it almost doesn't matter anyway because BM hasn't got the bollocks to drop Federici for what will obviously be for form or because he favours McCarthy. He isn't strong enough as a manager to do it.

Luckily Feds is starting to look more confident now.He had pretty safe hands against The Villa and certainly couldnt do much about their goal.

Better speak to the Pompey STH's this season.

MA is a good shot stopper, but poor with his distribution and has little command of his area.......their words not mine.

Better learn to love "Fedders" Lacoste

Fordham, based on yesterday's news (he saw a tweet from McCarthy). However, he failed to see a further tweet from him today, which said he was off to see a second specialist. Doesn't sound good though.

However, I have more confidence in Feds than many on here and, as has already been pointed out, the goalkeeper is by no means the biggest problem.

Taylor might be getting worried though, he could end up playing a proper game!

Gutted for McCarthy - really bad luck.

I am sure Fed will be ok and he is getting his confidence back. I doubt that Andersen will go back out on loan now unless it is a short term one here and there.

And for the Brian knockers you have to admit that we are having a terrible season for injuries to key players (McCarthy, Hunt, Roberts, Guthrie, Karacan, Mariappa and Kebe have all had quite long spells out). Looks like the dice are well and truly stacked against us this season so I hope that Anton recognises this and keeps faith with Brian even if we go down.

Hunt and Kebe are always injured and it's only because we lack quality in depth that the others seem to hit us. I'd also argue that players the manager doesn't pick in his strongest 11 are key.

This news is tough on McCarthy. It was his chance to shine and make the shirt his and therefore launch his career.

Injuries happen to all clubs. The trick is having a strong enough squad to cover them. We clearly don't. Kebe is more injured than not. Don't recall Hunt being out that much and he wasn't first choice eithe, likewise Mariappa. Guthrie's 'injury' is irrelevant as McDermott had clearly decided not to play him anyway.

You can only have 25 players and Chelsea for example only named 20. The only waste of a slot was probably Gunnar as it looks like he will not play at PL level and I agree we should have brought in one more CM but other than that we DID strengthen in every department. Hunt was out for at least two games if I recall rightly.

And Guthrie was dropped for ONE game and then injured so you have no idea what Brian would or would not have done regarding playing him in future games. You just take every opportunity to knock the players, Brian and the club. Go and support Chelsea please.

Depends on what you call strengthen. Bringing more players in doesn't necessarily strengthen your team, particularly when having brought them in, you then decide not to play some of the most expensive and experienced signings.

As for Guthrie. Have you really forgotten what McDermott said at the time he dropped him and just before he got a 4 week injury?

I think it is his summer transfer dealings and subsequent handling of players where McDermott is most at fault.

Oh and 2 games is not much of an injury, particularly when a player wasn't really featuring anyway.

Disappointing news, he's one of the few we have with genuine top flight potential and has barely started what looks like a very promising career.
