MmmMonsterMunch Brilliant article here on Brian:

Agreed, excellent piece. For all of the frustrations and disappointments of the season so far, it's great to have such a bloke as our manager.

Brian yesterday - "The fans are happy with what they're seeing"

Brian this morning - "The fans need to get real"

What will it be tomorrow?

I just hope that the players haven't just resigned themselves to losing this evening. I would rather see us actually try and play football today, pass the ball - if we can get hold of it - etc - if I feel the players have given up and aren't even trying, I'll be really cross. So let that be a warning to them!

SPARTA Brian yesterday - "The fans are happy with what they're seeing"

Yeah, but that snippet is being used out of context to seemingly somehow show that Brian's "lost it"...

"We need to have some kind of sense of realism where we've come from, and I think the majority of our fans have got that, you know, they're really enjoying watching what they're watching at the moment"

I took that to mean, not a comment on the quality of our play, but that the majority of the fans would much rather be watching us playing in the Premier League, than in the second or third tier, our perennial home for much of our existence...
Indeed, he immediately goes on to say:

"and they want us to win, cos I'm not stupid, we need results, we want results, and you know, that's what makes our fans happy"...

To me, that sums up the situation pretty well....

He's pragmatic and a realist. Thankfully there are supporters who fit that mould. Turning on the team, manager and no doubt eventually each others as supporters is a misguided way to channel frustrations.

Yep not everyone is baying for blood. The vast majority on here are though!

Perhaps some of them ought to read that article so it sinks in how utterly ungrateful they are.

At the same time, the fans are legitimately allowed to have a grumble or two when they are seeing below par performances. When you lose to two teams from the same gene pool as us like Wigan and Villa, in the manner that we did, it's hard to stomach the look where we came from story - even though it's correct.

I like Brian but part of being a Premier League manager will always involve huge amounts of pressure, managing inflated expectations and having ungrateful punters no matter what. That's the downside you have to try and live with if you want to compete in highest standard of English football.

I'm grateful for Ian Branfoot for winning the full members cup ,but he was shit afterwards and glad he went.We can't keep saying about the past,of course we are gratefull, but it's the future we are worried about now.

Don't disagree with what you've said really. Only thing I would say is people calling him clueless, McDonut, inept etc etc is very harsh & totally uncalled for IMO. The man deserves a bit of respect.

I f*cking love Brian. He's 'proper' Reading. A decent bloke all round.

One of the few managers I'd really rue leaving in all the years I've watched the club.

Exactly - and he sees the PL for exactly what it is.....A ridiculous, over hyped media circus.
