Cypry
SPARTA Brian yesterday - "The fans are happy with what they're seeing"

Yeah, but that snippet is being used out of context to seemingly somehow show that Brian's "lost it"...

"We need to have some kind of sense of realism where we've come from, and I think the majority of our fans have got that, you know, they're really enjoying watching what they're watching at the moment"

I took that to mean, not a comment on the quality of our play, but that the majority of the fans would much rather be watching us playing in the Premier League, than in the second or third tier, our perennial home for much of our existence...
Indeed, he immediately goes on to say:

"and they want us to win, cos I'm not stupid, we need results, we want results, and you know, that's what makes our fans happy"...

To me, that sums up the situation pretty well....

'Enjoying watching what they're watching at the moment'? Well if he means enjoying watching the team I support beaten on a regular basis by PL teams who play decent passing football, well I'm not really. I can watch those teams on the telly, without having the misery of seeing them beat my team.

If he means watching the awful 'football' that appears to be his preferred style of play, then I very definitely aren't enjoying watching that. If we are going to go down, which seems highly likely, I would rather see it happening with us at least trying to play some decent passing football.

Quite frankly I can watch a more attractive style of football than RFC are currently playing by going to lower league and women's games!

ankeny I'm grateful for Ian Branfoot for winning the full members cup ,but he was shit afterwards and glad he went.We can't keep saying about the past,of course we are gratefull, but it's the future we are worried about now.

Ironically we won the Simod Cup after what was rumoured to be a players' rebellion, which saw them ditch Branfoot's preferred direct style in favour of playing Luton off the park with the passing football preferred by the likes of Taylor, Smillie and Beavon.

And you are quite right about looking to the future, rather than relishing in the past.

Did us a oxf*rd load of good that did, huh? How many weeks later were we relegated? Players rebellion is great...for one game - oxf*rd awful over a season....

Royalclapper At the same time, the fans are legitimately allowed to have a grumble or two when they are seeing below par performances. When you lose to two teams from the same gene pool as us like Wigan and Villa, in the manner that we did, it's hard to stomach the look where we came from story - even though it's correct.

Wigan - established Premier League team, who are now in what? they're 6th year in the Premier League no?
Villa - One of the biggest football clubs in the country.

Fans who are grumbling at losing to these teams, are oxf*rd morons. They'll be out in force today.....

Could you point to a couple of clubs in our division that we can grumble about losing to then? Or shall we just pack it in, conceed every game because everyone has far more pedigree than us at this level and wait patiently for our place in the Championship to be restored?

Those teams, along with Norwich, Stoke, Sunderland, Saints & QPR are our peers this season, which is all that matters. And we've managed to pick up an enormous 3 points from 5 matches against them. Not good enough.

Heading for our third defeat in three games.

I had the feeling after the Villa defeat they would give Brian this game before they sacked him. Still think that will be the case so he new manager at least has a chance to get off to a winning/drawing start.

He won't be going and nor should he.......When was the point that our fans expectations skyrocketed to the ridiculous levels they are currently at? I clearly didn't get the tweet about it.........

Cant keep letting in 3 or 4 goals a game

Once we went 3-2 ahead we should have shut up shop and not let Utd in. We didn't need to keep attacking

we were four up against arsenal and couldn't defend our lead, how do you think we will ever defend a 1 goal lead?
