Did I just hear on Five Live that CheLOLsea are the first Champions League winners not to qualify from the Group Stage ?

No Fixed Abode Remember what you and everyone else said this time last season.........and we ended up being CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE and winning the FA Cup. But I forgot, the season ends in November. :|

As an aside, NFA - if the unthinkable* happens and you fail to progress from the group stage of this seasons CL (which isn't beyond the realms of possibility) and you get some "less than favourable to RA" results in the next few games against the "lower" clubs, do you think that the interim nature of Benitez's tenure will become even shorter than the 7 months he currently has? Or do you think that RA will stick with him to the end of the season regardless?

*to Chelsea

Gr8 m8 - any thoughts on the above now the "unthinkable" has happened?

Can someone explain to me how Chelsea are out, when they have the same points as Shakhtar, and a better goal difference?

Shaktar have a better head to head record, I think an extra away goal.

Indeed. Results between the teams:

Shakhtar 2-1 Chelsea
Chelsea 3-2 Shakhtar

Agg 4-4 - Shakhtar progress on the away goals rule.

Good brace from Torres. Could be just what he needed. 9 goals in all comps this season now.

Well worth the 50m then.

I would love to be Roman, like playing real life football manager. Roman, if you're watching below is a list of the PL top scorers. Pretty much all worth less then 50m.

Ba Newcastle 10
Michu Swansea 10
Suarez Liverpool 10
Van Persie Man Utd 10
Defoe Tottenham 9
Fellaini Everton 8
Tevez Man City 7
Bale Tottenham 6
Dzeko Man City 6
Fletcher Sunderland 6
Lambert Southampton 6
Aguero Man City 5
Berbatov Fulham 5
Hernandez Man Utd 5
Jelavic Everton 5
Long West Brom 5
Lukaku West Brom 5
Mata Chelsea 5
Nolan West Ham 5

Mikel banned for 3 games for threatening a referee. 3 games :| . In any, normal, well-run sport that would be a lengthy ban for abusing officials. I spose Mikel is such a poor footballer that it actually punishes CheLOLsea having him available.

The CheLOLsea charge sheet grows longer by the day:

Terry - CONFIRMED racist.
Clattenburg - CONFIRMED not a racist.
Mikel - CONFIRMED a thug.

When you think of CheLOLsea, you dont think of their streaky Champions League win in 2012. You think: 'racists and scumbags, you know what you are'.

So his mitigation for being abusive and aggressive is that he thought he'd been the victim of racial abuse.... but I thought he never heard it and it was Ramires that made the complaint?

I thought it was because he threatened to break Clattenburg's legs.

Chelsea to sign Wallace.

Being a fluminense fan here and having watched him play several times this season,I am happy to give my informal report on this guy.

He's stronger than he looks, technically very good, but is very 'Brazilian'. By that I mean, he loves to attack, and is fond of beautifully shaped crosses that pick out no one, but excite the crowd, and of course, he isn't so keen on defending.

I'm a bit confused as to this signing when you have just signed that Spanish matey, whose name I wouldn't begin to try and spell.

Also if you could give a quick report on Piazon's progress, people are always asking me about him. He was supposed to be a bit special when he was still here.
