cmonurz It’s obviously open to interpretation what ‘have to sell our best players’ actually means...

Obviously there were various public utterances during that initial hiatus after the announcements but this is an area which is crystal clear in my mind, and not "open to interpretation" - SJM said (on more than one occasion actually) that in the past we had HAD to sell our best players to fill the financial black hole but that would no longer be the case. We would not be forced down that path because of the deeper pockets now available "and I am absolutely delighted, blah blah....."

As Brendy said earlier, we can basically go back to the Pre-Skint-Madejski model and stop treading water.

The promises, the plan:

+ 5 year plan to become a top 8 Premier League club
+ Long-term vision/plan/support of manager to achieve goal of top 8 consistency
+ Upgrade of the new training ground to the highest of standards
+ Academy upgraded to Cat 1 status, in line with Europe's top clubs
+ Madejski Stadium expansion to 38,000 to begin summer 2013 if Reading avoid relegation from Premier League
+ Stadium naming rights could be consideredto bring in extra revenue

Like telling your kid they're getting a scalextric for Christmas only to get them a roll of toilet paper.

We're only what, 7-8 months into the new ownership and we were promoted a season too early, and "it's not looking good". Some people on here really need to get real.

If we go down, we'll be in year 4 of 5 and in our first season back in the Premier League. :|

Sorry but I disagree. The business plan looks great, really positive. But without the resources then it's always going to be a non starter.

TSI's plan is obvious.

Championship club purchased for 20 odd million, promoted at end of year one, spend bugger all, pocket TV money, get relegated, now effectively have a Championship club for free.

He could sell up and make a tidy profit, at least double what he paid.

This really is a thread for finance majors!

In our previous premiership seasons we made a small profit, in the championship players sales covered our losses most years.

The idea that Anton will "pocket" and run is ridiculous, football remains a terrible investment and urging our owners to lose more money for our entertainment is a strange demand.

Just found this on the internet - maybe this has been discussed before and I don't know how reliable this is, but it looks pretty genuine and also plausible:

What are we looking for. Too much waffle. Although Anton's dad looking like Brian Mac may be good news for McD.

The Daily Mail are trying to arrange another interview with Anton Zingarevich. Should be interesting, as I would expect the January transfer window to raise/answer a few questions.

Why would there be any questions? We're a top 5 club, the stadium now holds 70,000 spectators and we smashed our transfer record 17-fold during the last transfer window.
TSI can pat themselves on the back for a job well done, having delivered on all fronts.

Have you ever cried in a sand pit.
