Maguire If you read this whole thread, people were abusing McDermott from half-time onwards for not bringing on Guthrie (or unspecified other subs).
Here's the thing - if you're 0-0 at half-time away to a rival who have been restricted to half-chances and you've hit the woodwork just before the interval, and none of your players have a yellow card, WHY THE HELL WOULD HE SUB SOMEONE AT HALF-TIME?
No manager would do that, so a stream of posters on here calling him a pcunt, a bald twat, a useless oxf*rd etc just defy belief. It's 48 mins into a 0-0 game and you're all baying for his head ffs. And the person you want brought on as a saviour is Danny Guthrie who's been out injured for cock knows how long. Really?
Oh apart from whoever say "Samuel would be better than Le Fondre in a game like this". What, you mean an actual professional game of league football? yeah of course, would be amazed if he didn't score a hat-trick
Amazing how the answer always lies with whoever isn't on the pitch, isn't it?
My complaint is that McDermott watched us completely surrender initiative, possession and any hope over 15 minutes whilst Saints got more and more dominant and more and more likely to score. You could see it coming a mile off. I don't care who it is, although Guthrie is the most likely candidate, he had to take some action to try and fort up and patch the holes. Instead he did nothing until they scored. As he usually seems to do this season.
If I can see a change is needed or we'll conceed, then as a professional with plenty of experience, so should he.
