Maguire We weren't "played off the park" in the first half.

Not quite but Saints were by far the superior side. They should have been 2-0 within 10 mins. The first miss (side netting) was particularly poor.

yes and we hit the post 2 mins before half time. What's your point?

That Southampton were the better side throughout the half and us having one chance from a set piece doesn't really change that I'd imagine..

Carry on though

I love the "they should have been 2-0 up". What, if they were better at football?

If you're not good enough to stick the ball in the back of the net then you "shouldn't" be a goal ahead.

so effectively it "should" have been 2-1...superiority? not exactly. Anyway carry on with your revisionist view. Your go.

Shot ratio was something like 23 to 5 in Southampton's favour wasnt it? Another reason for changes needing to be made.

Thing is, you could have shown similar stats about a whole series of games last year (Brighton, Southampton etc) - in all of those we had a fraction of the shots, but were clinical in finishing them...in fact, in the corresponding game last year at St Marys, they had 19 shots, we had 6 - a similarly one sided looking game until you consider we scored 3 of those 6 and they scored 1 in 19....

This year ALF seems to have lost his mojo - he's had half a dozen gilt edged chances in the last three or four games, but is struggling even to hit the target (in fact most of his shots in the warm up vs Man U seemed to sail into the crowd as well)....might just be the time to try something completely different and perhaps throw Samuel in for a game, or at least a 20-30 minute crack as a sub....?
