andrew1957 I heard the interview. He said Brian would definitely still be in place this time next week and that his opinion was that Brian should be there for the long haul as changing managers is seldom successful. He also said that ultimately the decision was Anton's but that Anton had a great relationship with Brian.
However as Dellor pointed out JM sounded a bit frustrated with the whole situation and almost implied we should have spent more. Then at the end he said that Anton's family are very wealthy and that he was a thoroughly nice chap.
Not sure any of it was very illuminating really.

So he has the backing of the chairman but the decision is ultimately Anton's to make and essentially leaves us none the wiser. I certainly wouldn't have expected anything to happen until after Sunderland and then only if the performance and result are along the lines of the same clueless dreary crap we've suffered in our last 3/4 away games.
Happy for Brian to stay if he can pull off another miracle but, let's face it, at this level with the lack of squad investmanet we've shown so far it's not really very likely is it (esp. with Arsenal and Man City games pretty imminent as well).

MmmMonsterMunch Andrew - I got the impression he was frustrated at the fans' getting on BM's back but maybe I read it wrong...

bracksroyal10 I can understand SJM's frustration, he said he was wanting to sell the club to someone with deep pockets who could take Reading to the next level. Yes Anton has spent a little more than what SJM would have but clearly it has not been enough I think you would of been asking a big job of any manager to keep us up with the current squad. Although I have to question MD's thinking behind leaving Guthrie and Pog out so regularly.
We will find out January but at the moment Anton hasn't majorly spent more than SJM would the difference is big but I don't think it is as big as what some people would have imagined.

Really not sure MMM. He seemed to get quite flustered at one point. But then at the end he went out of his way to say what a great bloke Anton was. He also said that he understood why the fans were fed up but that we should all keep the faith and keep supporting the manager.

Exactly! The way this interview is being reported, it absolutely stinks of hypocrisy!
