Hoop Blah I'm not sure, I'm not really one for conspiracy theories so I wouldn't like to say.

I think there is more to this sentence than you are letting on.

Hoop Blah Watching? Maybe training on his own or with the kids but not disrupting the first team squad for an important month?

Good call by McD then, as results and performances have been brilliant...

Stranded
Hoop Blah Interesting that Guthrie is supposedly back in training from this morning, and knew he was going to be back 5 days ago.

That's pretty much 4 weeks to the day he was dropped (and this thread started) and before he then picked up his injury. If I were a conspiracy theorist I'd suggest that he was given a 4 week break to learn how we do things.

Or more likely, the physio said to him that you're looking good but a couple more days following the program to build up fitness or strength in the injured area and you can re-join the full squad for training after the Wigan game.

Quite possibly.

100% agree. The most certain I've been about anything.

The whole incident stinks to hell. Was def given a 4week ban. Brian McD has always implemented these bans in house. Jem had it last year.

Funny how he is available Saturday after not training thru injury for 4 weeks!? Do me a favour.

Just wish Brian had been more truthful with the fans over the whole situation.

You have to wonder what he has to do now. Im expecting him to leave in January the whole situation is fast becoming a joke.

Don't know if anyone heard BBC Radio Berkshire after the game. Thought it was very interesting listening to what the guys had to say about the whole Guthrie situation. Apparently he even changed his bio on twitter from Professional footballer at Reading to Professional footballer. I think the substitutions Mcd made on Saturday shows his stance on Guthrie. The guy must be wondering what he has to do it really is beyond a joke.

Saw him in a church on Sunday - stayed behind after the service for at least an hour in silent prayer (I crept up close to him and saw his lips moving ... think he seemed to be mouthing 'Please God let my manager be sacked ... ' ... but he could also have been saying something else ...). Any clues?

Given that Lacoste posted his tweets in reverse chronological order, it seems more likely that the disappointed one, was reflecting on the result, followed immediately by the more positive one about the next game.....

I believe your interpretation is more likely to be the correct one. A less diplomatic tweet might have been: Thoroughly p*ssed off. The team played like shyte and still the bastard didn't give me a chance.

Or that when he saw the first tweet, Goebbels had a word in his ear and persuaded him that it was in his interest to tweet more positively!

Why wouldn't a player be so disappointed and disheartened at not being given a chance to play, even when the rest of the team are playing like shyte?!

And you can be sure that, come January, when players talk amongst themselves, any potential Reading target who is mates with Guthrie will ask him" So, is it a good club to play for....?"

and if he was honest with himself- he would be more than willing to accept some of the blame for not playing on himself.
hardly pulled up any trees, then pissed and moaned in public. deserved to be dropped. then got injured.

hope he plays tuesday though

Yes but Guthrie is clearly the most creative midfielder through the middle that we have. He is head and shoulders above Legs and Tabb put together technically and clearly we are lacking that spark in the middle of midfield. Its plain obvious for everyone to see we struggle with decent ball distribution when attacking so Guthrie has every right to be angry.

Right now the last thing we need to be doing is holding grudges against playing staff or the management for that matter. Mcd needs to drop it forgive and forget and look at the bigger picture that is Reading FC. Play Guthrie in his usual role and you will see an improvement in the middle of the park no pissing around with this more advanced role or trying to play him in another position. Let Tabb do the dirty work so Guthrie can do all the crafting it needs to happen tomorrow night soon we will find the games fast running out before we know it.

he has a right to be frustrated. he and you may believe he is better than all our midfielders, but imo hes not shown enough of that to justfiy his permenant inclusion in theteam, and no manager in teh country would put up with his outburst unpunished.
