melonhead and if he was honest with himself- he would be more than willing to accept some of the blame for not playing on himself.
hardly pulled up any trees, then pissed and moaned in public. deserved to be dropped. then got injured.

hope he plays tuesday though

Yes but Guthrie is clearly the most creative midfielder through the middle that we have. He is head and shoulders above Legs and Tabb put together technically and clearly we are lacking that spark in the middle of midfield. Its plain obvious for everyone to see we struggle with decent ball distribution when attacking so Guthrie has every right to be angry.

Right now the last thing we need to be doing is holding grudges against playing staff or the management for that matter. Mcd needs to drop it forgive and forget and look at the bigger picture that is Reading FC. Play Guthrie in his usual role and you will see an improvement in the middle of the park no pissing around with this more advanced role or trying to play him in another position. Let Tabb do the dirty work so Guthrie can do all the crafting it needs to happen tomorrow night soon we will find the games fast running out before we know it.

he has a right to be frustrated. he and you may believe he is better than all our midfielders, but imo hes not shown enough of that to justfiy his permenant inclusion in theteam, and no manager in teh country would put up with his outburst unpunished.

Most managers wouldn't hold a grudge for the whole season if that player was valuable to the team and their side was struggling. You have to admit out of what we have available at the minute, he should be playing all he needs is a run in the team playing his usual position. Some of his passing ideas didn't come off but you could see the intent a lot of the time.

I think potentially Guthrie with Jem could be a good partnership or one of the two partnered with Tabb as Jem did well with him at QPR in the COC tie.

I hope I am wrong but I am not sure we will. This is all becoming a bit silly now. We are crying out for some creativity and yet I'm not sure he's moved off the bench since he came back into the squad.

Of course, had McD bothered to play him from the off and stick with him, despite him being a better footballer who can pass the ball etc etc, instead of making him "play the Reading way" and leaving him out, while the player could see some of the dross being served up, he wouldn't have needed to have an outburst.

Strangely enough that is similar to my line of thought. The 'Reading way' of playing has been found out (or to be more accurate I think we were so s*** we nullified the danger not the opposition) so we need to do something different. Without unearthing two world class wingers who can rinse the PL defences every week and two top quality CMs who can tackle, pass and shield the back four, we cannot make the 'Reading Way' work in the PL. In fact, in all honesty, it's bloody amzing it worked in the Championship

That may be but I doubt it.

Why did Brian put him on the bench on Sat and then ay he wasn't fit enough to come on? Very strange and stinks of a manager losing it.

we only had 19 fit players in the whole 25 man squad...........
need 7 for the bench.

he was on th ebench if needed.

wasnt used as the manager thought it may be a better idea to play someone who was MORE fit

Brian and Guthrie both need to have a word with themselves.

Guthrie might be technically superior than the other midfielders, but let's be honest, he's only a steady performer at this level even in the good times. And Brian should think about at least changing Legs and Tabb after the two away stinkers at Villa and Saints where the creativity only just crept above zero.

Allegedly. And he definitely wasn't injured for the first two games he was dropped, or for the last one or tonight.
