strap Apropos nothing at all, take quick look at the relative costs of the starting XI's (and the league position at the time the games were played:

Sunderland (18th) £36,350,00 v Reading (19th) £5,600,000 - RFC LOSING
Southampton (18th) £10,000,000 v Reading (19th) £5,250,000 - RFC LOST (Southampton bench actually cost more than their staritng XI)
Reading (18th) £5,250,000 v Manchester United (1st) £145,600,000 - RFC LOST
Aston Villa (17th) £10,600,000 v Reading (18th) £5,250,000 - RFC LOST (Villa bench actually cost more than their staritng XI)
Wigan Ath (16th) £13,800,000 v Reading (17th) £5,650,000 - RFC LOST

Now I'm no rocket scientist, but when the likes of Wigan and Southampton field squads in excess of £20M, it is no wonder that we are where we are.

In fact Wigan's, (yes WIGAN's), squad had 10 players who cost more than £1M each in it.

Cloth cutting gets you only one place Mr Mad, only one place ...

this sums everything up, we needed to spend and we didnt. nothing we can do about it till janurary though.

January will change nothing we should have done it in the summer

Man Friday Commentator: "No quality in the final third".

Spot on.

Have we put all of our squad into the final third then?

A lot of Newcastle fans were pretty pissed off when they lost Guthrie as they really rated him. The poor guy must be regretting he didn't stay at Newcastle and fight for his place, a footballer's career is a short one and he has pretty much lost a season of it to Reading.

Come on Dominic!

Seriously have I just been spiked with acid & think I'm in another universe where Tabb & Samuel are playing in the PL?

Why was Samuel brought on as a winger ahead of Obita?

Again, Reading just lack that spark of quality in the final third, as Tabb drifts past Colback superbly, but he can't play back to Le Fondre and Cuellar calmly intercepts.

Worth noting too that the Villa team didn't include £18m Darren Bent, and for Southampton no Gaston Ramirez, who was signed for £12m.
