Ian Royal
andrew1957 There is zero point sacking Brian as we are already down. We need to support him to rebuild for next season.

But he's shown no ability to build a coherant team. He's reactively plugged gaps and if by some miracle he does turn it around and get us up what do you suggest? Sack him after promotion or give him another go to show his utter lack of competence at this level.

Not being able to think of who could do better is not a good enough reason to keep a manager who is failing to get anything remotely resembling the level of performance the players can give (even if that is limited and below everyone else in the league). He's responsible for training. He's responsible for team selection. He's responsible for tactics. He's responsible for subsitutions.

This team is on to achieve 21 points and to be honest I can't actually see how we can possibly get even that with McDermott staying. The players clearly have no belief. There's dessention in the ranks and he's lost a goodly portion of the fans. The only reason he might not have lost most of them is because people like you can't see any point in sacking him, not because they have even the slightest bit of faith he can turn it around.

Has to go.

So we sack him and bring in Steve Cottrill. How is that going to help next season. Two of our last three mamangers are now at PL clubs and it would not surprise me if we sack Brian and he ends up back in the PL quicker than RFC.

Look at the bigger picture Ian.

Come on Andrew. McDermott get another PL job? Only if we don't get promoted for another ten years. What stock do you think Brian has built this season exactly.

Andrew - I am a Brian fan but the bigger picture is that too much damage has been done now.

He won't be able to rebuild next season. Keeping faith with him will more than likely see us in the bottom third of the champ.

I'm not going to sit here and play name a manager, because I'm not in a position to make that call or be good at making that call. But you're oxf*rd off your head if you think going through an interview process will land us with someone who'll do worse this season. And it'd be nice to get in someone that recognises the necessity to be able to pass the oxf*rd ball accurately.

Much more of this and I'd welcome George Osborne to the manager's slot.

The fact we are getting progressively worse. If we were fighting for it & narrowly went down fair enough but that's not happening, not by a long stretch.

If we win say 4-5 games this season & everyone at the club is clinically depressed, how do you fix that without a spring clean? Sometimes you just can't.

I hate myself for thinking it but it's untenable now.

These 'crunch' games were Brian's chance to get points on the board, even if it meant playing 5-5-0 & to get nothing is poor.

Get this guy in to boost the morale. I heard he already lost the Chelsea job.

Personally I would like to see Brian Sewell as Reading manager - sharing the name would give us some continuity.

He's clearly been losing the fans for several weeks and it appears now that, with key players being deselected at the last minute, he's also lost the team.
Leaving out Guthrie is one thing but Roberts is entirely another.
Also think that Federici and Pearce - wh were in the team will not be exactly on great terms.
At least a new face will not have all this baggage to contend with.

Just wish SJM would concentrate on those things he is clearly good at and leave the football matters to people who know the game.
Can't imagine AZ has not got a plan B ready to announce very soon.
Hope its not a cheap / quick fix but something to give us real hope once more.

Get Wally back for the fricking defense! Brian & Gibbo sort out the rest of the team, leave it for Wally!

Interesting that Wally left his club and McD has adamantly said he has no place at RFC

i thought it sounded like theres been some downes/allardyce bust up
rather than him just leaving in order to come here

if they are going to sack brian though, id take downes till the end of the season though, ought to gee things up in the dressing room a bit
got as much chance of keeping this bunch of arse up as brian or anyone else

ie 0.7%

McDermott OUT!

by LoyalRoyalFan » 12 Dec 2012 11:09

Got to go now.

Season is falling apart. We are on the way down.

Time to change things. We need to take a risk. Don't rest on past achievements, keep moving on.

MCDERMOTT OUT
