2 world wars, 1 world cup Guthrie - F**K OFF

How anyone in their right mind can blame the manager in any way is beyond me. How many tens of players has Brian successfully managed without the slightest problem? If a player is a bad egg he's a bad egg and Danny guthrie is piece of s**t as a player and even worse as a person.

Most of us have to work very hard for our livings earning less in a year than he does in a week and its partly our hard earned cash that pays his wages. Hs behaviour is totally and utterly unacceptable given he is a professional paid a salary to do a job. Even a thick footballer must know that managers have a squad and if you're rubbish you'll be benched.

People are saying tsh we need to focus on our troubles and not on Guthrie but as far as I'm concerned Brian got us where we are through building an unprecedented team spirit and togetherness. That has fallen apart this season and that is clearly to me one of the biggest reasons for our poor form. And who do we think is the cause of it?

I'm sorry but there is no blame here for Brian, much as Brian-haters will love to use this against him. If a player is a twerp, he's a twerp and Danny Guthrie is a twerp.

Goodbye Danny.

Refusing to travel all the way up to Sunderland just to sit on a freezing cold bench for 2 hours makes him a piece of shit person?

Stroppy/emotional yes, but at the end of the day McDermott has given him absolutely no reason to be loyal to either him or the club.

And before you start wailing about 30k a week..Guthrie had a number of offers similar to that. He was promised career progression when he moved, and now can't even get off the bench to replace Leigertwood or Tabb when 1 down at Southampton. The guy's professional like is going down the drain, and I imagine being told he was being snubbed for them again was the final straw.

He will rightly get fined a week's wages or two..but at the end of the day anyone expecting footballers to act like emotionless machines are fking moronic.

He gets paid to be a professional footballer. Note the professional part. Whatever dreams he has of playing for England or whatever his own personal agenda is, RFC pay his wages so he needs to get in line with whatever they want. We clearly gave him the best offer or he wouldn't be here.

The only reason Guthries professional life is going down the drain is his own stinking attitude. What team in their right mind would take him on knowing that he's clearly got an attitude problem and thinks he's far bett than he actually is.

Yep. That's his job - he takes the cash, he should do the job.

BOO HOO IT'S HIS oxf*rd JOB

at the end of the day McDermott has given him absolutely no reason to be loyal to either him or the club.

THEY PAY HIS oxf*rd WAGES!

I hate my job but I don't just decide not to log on one morning because I feel like my bosses aren't supporting me [they're not]

Guys an idiot, get shot of him.

It is his job, you're right. Which is why he'll get fined for not doing his job. Have you ever pulled a sickie Mags, or worked from home when you weren't supposed to? I have, does that make me a 'piece of shit' person? (I am one, but that's not the reason :P )

Maguire I can't believe people on here are backing Guthrie over Brian McDermott and Reading Football Club.

Your head's not right? Stop acting thecunt, get on the damn bus and start earning your wages. Guthrie can absolutely do one as far i'm concerned.

With a midfield that cant put two passes together, slow, no idea of how to make a chance no wonder Guthrie didnt travel I think most would be wholly pissed off, Mcdermott bought him onto the club jesus christ surly he knew what his strengths and weeknesses were before he sanctioned the deal, or you would bloody hope so anyway, for hell sake lets get a manager in who knows what he is doing will play his strongest side and not just his "favourites" who rather keep quiet than speek out in relation to the dog shit football they are being made to play, lets get someone who will get away from this touchy feely clap trap we all keep hearing about, kick some ass and get some winning spirit back into the side, managers dont have to be popular !!

Oh, and we've only heard one side of the story so convicting a character based on the words of an under-pressure manager who clearly has a problem with him is doubly moronic.

ManchesterRoyals
Esteban
ManchesterRoyals To be honest Guthrie is well out of order but BM hasnt handled the whole thing very well

All i want is Reading to do well and BM to pick his best team and it just hasnt happened

But Guthrie was starting games, not playing particularly well, the team wasn't winning and he got dropped. Guthrie then threw his toys out of the pram.

The question is, is it right to then start playing Guthrie after an episode like that? What sort of message does that give to the rest of the squad? I'm with you and everyone else on this board who is a Reading fan, I want to see the best players we have, playing week in week out and getting results for the club. But at what cost do you make that decision? To give an example, Cummings was damn near sold a season or two ago, yet he came back in due to injuries, got his head down and made the shirt his own. For me, that's the attitude you should reward, not Guthrie's. It's a very difficult decision to make, but on balance, I think I would rather McDermott left Guthrie out, if that's his reaction to not playing, in order promote a much healthier attitude amongst the rest of the squad.

I can understand the other side of the argument though, even though I wholeheartedly disagree with it.

I can see it fom both sides but just think how guthrie feels if he cant even get in the starting team

You would hope disappointed and determined to prove his worth. Unfortunately, I think Guthrie is angry and churlish.

It'll be hard to move him on now though, the club need to have a long think about how they deal with it. The best thing for everyone would be to sort it out, get his head right and get him playing, making him a more attractive proposition if they want to sell him and potentially improving our midfield (maybe, maybe not). That's a very tricky situation to manage though.

Differently to Pog, Gorkks, Harte, Gunnarsson, Church, Hunt, Alf, etc. apparently ...

I don't post on here often. I won't post in response to the inevitable negativity that I will receive in response to this.

Anyone who supports a player who's done oxf*rd all for our club, ahead of a manger who:

(a) saved us from relegation to League One
(b) Took us to a Play Off final
(c) Got us promoted

......despite continuously having to sell his best players, can, as far as I'm concerned, oxf*rd off.

I've witnessed Brian making (in my opinion) countless poor decisions this year. But I've also witnessed (in my opinion) Brian making countless brilliant decisions and massively over achieving with an average Championship squad. What happens if you do this? You find yourself in the Premiership with a team that can't compete.

Of course I'm frustrated. Of course I'm annoyed. There's a part of me that wonders what might happen if we sacked Brian and got someone else in. But if we were to sack him now, after everything he has done since he came to the club over ten years ago, I'd feel thoroughly ashamed to be a Reading fan.

What manager could keep us up with this set of players? What manager could have got us promoted with this set of players? Brian.

Fukking hell! Are you his boyfriend or something? He refused to travel. What more do you need to know?

Glad he managed to stay in the warmth tonight though. It is chilly out.

Anyone who can see the POV of a marginalised player an f*ck off? Right.

No doubt you see yourself as a lone voice of rationality, but at the end of the day there are different view points and telling someone to f*ck off just because they hold a different one to yours is embarrassing in itself.

I'm with people who think that Guthrie should have been starting or at least coming of the bench, but if hes refused to travel I don't want him anywhere near the team. Get rid. He could be Messi for all i care, if you refuse to travel you don't deserve to play.
