Was backing him because there is a clear lack of quality in the squad, and cant see anybody else really improving us without new players. But, why does he stick with 442 away from home when it is clearly not working, tonight was crying out for an extra player in midfield.

I again voted to keep. We could have Ferguson and Mourinho as joint managers for the next two games and still get 0 pts, there's no point bringing in someone for a guarenteed bad start, then there's no real time to change things over Christmas.

I say sack him after the West Ham game barring a miraculous turnaround, starting afresh for January and a nice transfer window.

Devastated to see myself voting "sack", but I have. A thoroughly likeable guy, who worked miracles in his first 2 and a half years. Yet out of his depth at this level; unable to look beyond his hoof ball 4-4-2, unable to manage better players and looking clueless and out of ideas. He must go.

Ian Royal
pea Look at that squad, noones ever going to beat a PL side with that team. Keep him,

Yay, lets reward total and utter failure.

Its the Reading way, we signed Stephen Hunt because noone wanted him, Bignall has had his contract extended several times without scoring a single professional goal in that season, Tabb gets to play in the Premier League because he is a trier and TSW is about to win thread of the year for his complete and utter failure to get a date with any woman.

I wouldn't inflict trying to play Arsenal, Man City and Tottenham with this squad on anyone other than the man who put the squad together

Reading4eva Only one choice now guys. The man is a lovely fellow, but lovely fellows dont win you games. Look at Colin at Leeds, he has had success of being a complete and utter knobjock and it works

14th in the Championship. Impressive. Remind me what his record of managing in the Premiership is like?

Even if the squad is low on quality, surely a new manager would install a bit of freshness in the team? New ideas and wanting to impress can only encourage the players.

I love brian, but playing 442 again with the same players, especially in a game as important as this and one you shouldnt lose, you have to question him.

Guthrie didnt come because he was told he wasnt playing yet again, he has a right to be frustrated and ledge has been absolutely awful but to not even travel is a disgrace. He can go back to wherever he came from.

Thing is McD didn't really need to do much last season as the team kind of found their own feet but this season when we finally realise we aren't very good, he doesn't have any ideas on how to get out of it - reminds me of Arsenal, stick to plan A, when that doesn't work keeping sticking to plan A.

He needs somebody alongside him to give him direction and knowledge - as much as we hated Rodgers he is exactly the kind of manager we need now, he may be in-experienced himself but he's worked with some quality managers/coaches - we shouldn't have sacked him tbf.

So really we should get rid of McD and bring in someone like Mark Hughes who is used to this situation from when he managed Blackburn and Fulham - teams similar to us, working on a tight budget.

If people seriously think Guthrie is the saviour then the world has gone nuts. Guthrie, Pog, even when playing neither has exactly shone. We lack quality, Brian probably feels more chance of getting his trusted players performing than half hearted 'stars'. Fact is we blew it in the summer and who knows whose fault that is? A change will do no good, we're screwed either way!

Christ, do we need this poll?

Our last five games have been 4 aways, plus a tough home game against Manure. Let's at least give McDermott til he's had the next 4 games which will have 3 homes, then decide from there. Which will be just in time for the January transfer window!

And two of those were in the north. We don't travel well....

Actually, we've never had a great record playing in the North East, whatever division we've been in.

Second thoughts, I don't know what our record is like at places like Scunthorpe, Hartlepool or Darlington. :| Going further, what about Hull and Grimsby???

Where's strap?
