Snowball IF, a genuine RFC fan wants McDermot to go, that doesn't necessarily mean
that the fan believes another manager can turn things round, that we might
yet see a miracle.

Nor does it mean that said fan is "ungrateful" for the manager's previous work.

Nor does it mean that the fan believes, necessarily, that the manager is inept or out of his depth.

It might just be that the fan believes that accumulating circumstances have made
the manager's position as leader of the current team in the current circumstances untenable.

Sometimes things just go wrong for a team or a business and change is needed.

That might mean that the manager goes, takes a break, goes somewhere else
and then becomes a major success. Look, for example at Mister Brendan Rodgers,
sacked, then leading Swansea to the Premiership, now turning Liverpool around

So eloquently and correctly put - and without the use of stats!

Platypuss When does your no-wifi holiday start? Your posts actually manage to be more tedious and repetitive than our midfield play.

Says a pompous **** and the worst moderator ever inflicted on us. Please feel free to add me to your ignore list.

Mind you, strange how you adopt that stance when many of your posts actually reflect the same sentiments.

Incidentally you have more posts than me so I suspect a fair amount of repetition and tedium is evident in them too.

Seeing as your 8000+ posts consist almost exclusively of:

JM is an ego-stroker
the club is shit
McDermott is a clown

I'd find that really hard to believe.

Perhaps they should ensure that moderators are actually able to read and aren't prone to telling lies!

One reference to McDermott being a clown (regretted a little less now after last night's performance, ludicrous post match comments and latest installment in the Guthrie saga.)

Some references to the club business management being poor.

And yes, no love lost on Madejski who has proven time and time again (last occasion in the televised game v Man U) that he is exactly the words you used.

However, the overwhelming majority of posts talking about games, players, performances good and bad and general issues. So do one duck bill.

Hope there's no McDermott out chants on Monday. He is partially to blame i.e tactics, weird subs etc. The budget he was given in the summer was a joke, £5 million for a team that overachieved big time is ridiculous. Can't see any other manager doing better if Anton or Mad Man doesn't back them either.

Might go and watch Watford on boxing day, we all know we won't beat Swansea!

P.S however said Souness, no just no.

He has royally f*cked up, I am f*cking fuming right now and I am ashamed to be a Reading fan today. But I just don't see the point in sacking him. Let's face it - we are going down whether we get a new manager or not. Unless we are given a £20m budget in January and we all know that ain't gonna happen. What's worse than going down? Going down AND losing Brian to some 'big shot' who would be awful as a Championship manager.

Woodcote Royal So who would have "the depth" to avoid defeat/relegation with the players available to McDermott last night?

A club like ours, at it's current state of development, will never be unaffected with all of McCarthy, Morrison, Karacan, Kebe, HRK, Roberts and the twat Guthrie injured/unavailable.

I strongly suspect that the vast majority of us who want Brian to stay will also still be here next season regardless whilst many glory hunting idiots, who we don't see for dust when we are in the second tier, are in the other camp.

If promotion turns our to be a bridge too far for us this season, sacking the man who was good enough to get us here would be a massive own goal, especially when his efforts over the last decade have done so much to ensure that a very decent young squad is largely in place for a Championship campaign along with 4 seasons of parachute payments.

Woodcote,
You only need to look at Bournemouth who couldn't win a game earlier this eason for love nor money. They change their manager (bringing Eddie howe back to the club) and have now gone twelve games undefeated. No change in the playing staff, no enormous expenditure, just a manager who can instill some confidence and self belief in his squad of players. This is where McD is falling down at the moment, he doesn't seem capable of motivating. The squad he is playing at the moment is largely the same (much to the disgruntlement of many on HobNob) as the one that got us promoted. On that basis, something has gone badly wrong and who's to say that this trend won't continue when we (inevitably) find ourselves back in the Championship. I strongly believe that there is enough strength in the squad to keep us up if they are playing at the best of their abilities to the right tactics. Unfortunately, it looks as if McD is incapable of making that happen soon enough to make a difference.....
If all the club is interested in is 4 years of parachute payments and not having a proper stab at the PL then I for one will have to think long and hard before renewing my ST. If I don't, at least you won't have to put up with my constant whining at the home games that you manage to get to ..... ;)
