Pog Ponders Talks

by Reading4eva » 13 Dec 2012 15:52

SkySportsNews Reading striker Pavel Pogrebnyak says he may need to hold talks over his future as he continues to struggle to hold down a regular place in the first team.

The 29-year-old joined the Royals on a free transfer in the summer and started the season by scoring four goals in eight appearances.

However, he has since fallen out of favour and currently seems to be behind the likes of Jason Roberts and Adam Le Fondre in the pecking order at the Madejski Stadium.

Although he says he has not yet discussed the situation with Reading owner and compatriot Anton Zingarevich, he hinted that talks may be on the cards.

"Not yet, but maybe we should do it soon," Pogrebnyak told Sovsport.ru when asked if he had spoken with Zingarevich.

Pogrebnyak, who did rule out a move back to his home country, still believes his side have the quality to survive the drop despite currently being six points adrift of safety.

He added: "The situation became tough after our defeat against Southampton but we have good players. But someone should whisper correctly how and what we should do on the pitch."

Will drive him there if he wants to go  One issue sorted and this idiot pops up. Get Rid January

Was going to say that, it's definitely been changed from the one I saw last week.

He'll get a chance now because of Roberts big mouth getting him into trouble and now a 'hip injury'. Plus Roberts offers next to faff all at this level, so play Pog who is the better finisher when given the service.

When we get so few chances we need to take as many as we can. Le Fondre is wasteful, i would prefer the Pog back, if only to sit in the 6 yard box and tap them in, let Hunt do the running.

Quality wise he's our best striker by far. He needs to play the full 90 though, he can be a lump for most of it but pops up with 1 moment of brilliance which can change the game like chelsea away or qpr away in the cup

If he didn't come so deep to try to get the ball as he gets frustrated wanting it to feet so tries to go get it himself he could be awesome for us.

I always thought that he has done fark all and then had a short lucky spell at Fulham - obvs haven't bothered to check the facts

Didn't he win the Europa cup with Zenit and become the top goalscorer in the competition.

I like him, he's bloody slow and jumps less than an inch off the ground, but give him 90mins with some quality into his feet around the edge of the box he can score.

I want a Roberts/Pog partnership.

I remember a certain Trevor Senior, bloody useless 30 yards from goal but lethal in and around the box, scored 41 goals one season its what all good strikers thrive on service into the box , I`m convinced Pog could be a 20 goal a seaon man if we could create chances for him, sadly most mongs on here don`t see the full picture.

Another case of player brought in to fit to our own unique style of hoof it and think later rather than us adapting slightly to get the best from him.

Get some quality midfielders into the club and we may have chance of starting to get somewhere

We get a fair few balls into the box, and Shorey's dead-ball kicks have been excellent

Reading
* Jimmy Kébé scored a goal with his only shot as a PL player v Newcastle.
* Only Manchester United (31) have attempted more crosses per game than Reading (30) this season.
* Danny Guthrie and Adam Le Fondre are the only Reading players to average an 80% pass completion this season.

Shorey's top three in 'chance creation' or something too

Totally agree with you. He looked a cut above anything else we had in the first few games & the abuse is totally unjustified. He has probably become a bit disillusioned with how the team are performing - lets be honest you probably would in his shoes too!
