If Mcdermott goes, who would you get to replace him?

I did conveniently leave it out, because it papers over the fact he's done a poor job this season. He had a lot more money at Blackburn than has been spent at reading this season. Also, at Man City he wasn't necessarily even that bad - he got City higher than Sven did and was on the brink of getting into the Champions League just a couple of seasons after they spent all the money.

What I do not want to see (if McDermott gets replaced) is him replaced with a manager who when his teams struggle fail to inspire any confidence whatsoever. It would be a terrible decision to appoint a manager who spent much more than us - had his chance to build a team there and miserably failed. This would be especially worrying if Zingarevich decides to get his cheque book out in Jan!

He's done a bad job because he seems to have a team full of Guthries. Luckily we only have one Guthrie to rock the boat and look how much damage just one can cause.

Anyway, the point I was making about Hughes is that he suits a club like Reading. He doesn't suit a club that will give him an open cheque book. Hughes has demonstrated that he does a good job when he is working with a sensible budget and a good group of people. Give him lots of money to go out and buy a bunch of big egos who are only in it for the money and he doesn't do so well.

That is why, I can overlook the situation he faced at QPR because in the right environment he will do a good job.

But McDermott the same, he is also not suited to a QPR environment or open cheque book environment. He looks like he is sorting out the problem with Guthrie, hopefully now they can all move on and things can improve. If I was the owner I would not sack McDermott in the first place so there is no need to talk about Hughes or any other manager. McDermott is by far the best man for Reading FC and will continue doing a good job.

Coppell is another man that is well suited to a Reading FC type environment.

Don't think SC knows how to spend money .... he's definitely be the best option for this kind of situation, just not sure he's still got it in him though. Same as Curbishley.

This is where you show how utterly clueless you are. The man has zero hunger or desire for football any more. That much was clear in his final season with us - he had no desire for it even though he had 10000% backing from the supporters.

He then proved as much by walking out on Bristol City after 1 or 2 months having spunked a load of cash on players. Quite frankly he left them right in the shit & they've still not recovered fully now.
