I'm wondering where have all these people come from?

Have they just stopped supporting Man United because they didn't win the premier league last season?

72 bus
Royal Rother His other businesses?

So now we have two owners with limited funds in premiership terms, an ageing squad with a totally disfunctional midfield that would not get into any other premiership side.
And you think we are in a good place ?

RFC this season is like watching a train wreck in slow motion, we have learned nothing from the last time we were in this division
But it's the Reading way.

Yes I do.

As I posted the day after the news was 1st announced back in January...

Royal Rother I do not like the sound of this at all. A fcuking Russian billionaire owning RFC? No thanks.

Guess I might change my mind when we're up top competing with Man City (HA!) but right now it does not appeal at all.

I am more than happy following a club that is run judiciously (as it still is to all appearances) so gambling the club's stability on big wages and mega transfer fees would drive me even further away from the pro-game.

To me, this seems to have already happenned.
Parachuting in The Pog and Guthrie on (from a RFC perspective) mega wages seems to have de stabilised the unity of the squad.
True, it could be just newspaper tittle tattle about certain players getting the hump about wage disparity.
I'm of the view that there's no smoke without fire, because there are precedents here.
We all remember the last adventure in this league, and the almost continual process of upping the ante on player wages/contracts just to hold on to our best players.

The prem leaves me stone cold because of this. It's so overtly just about money. And it's overrated. And it's a SKY driven media circus.

Players dont mind if new recruits come in if it helps save their status as premiership players on premiership wages. Its when they dont perform the problems start.

PS how do you get shading on copy and paste?

Don't copy and paste - press "quote" in the top right corner of their post and it will formulate a reply with their post automatically in it. H2H

Back on topic. We won't be getting Danny Graham. He's got a bad attitude, hence being frozen out at Swans.

Would rather a punt on Mamady Sidibé or a Ricardo Fuller, they are more in our price range as well!

Royal Rother Running the business to have a strong Balance Sheet, not propped up by benefactor loans, is NOT from the Dark Ages.

Investing big money into The Academy is NOT doing things on the cheap and is certainly not an idea from the Dark Ages.

Why did you follow Windsor while they did exactly a) then?

I assume you're referring to Windsor & Eton there?

Well yes, I'm not blind to that. In fact I have often referred on the Non League thread to the irony of my moving away from the pro-game, largely due to the whole corrupt money-circus crap that sees a Portsmouth of this world enjoy success they should never have had, and start following Windsor & Eton only to discover that the Cup and League title triumphs I enjoyed so much had effectively been achieved by similar measures.

Maybe if I'd known the state of their Balance Sheet at the time I 1st started supporting the club I wouldn't have ended up at Stag Meadow. Who knows....? Maybe I'd now be rejoicing in Burnham being top of the table, or still be recovering from Slough's penalty shoot-out loss against Mansfield.

I'm happy to be a Windsor FC supporter now.

I would only rate Danny Graham as a reasonable Championship quality player and we already have at least eleven of those so don't need any more, at the moment !
If I was looking around at currently out of favour premiership quality strikers I would prefer Darren Bent but unfortunately he would cost too much and wouldn't want to come to Reading on a permanent deal. Maybe we could get him on loan for a few months ?

Re Bent - Not that there's any chance but he'd be an awful choice. We don't create poachers' chances.

Load of bollocks at that price and with his bad attitude which has led to Swansea wanting rid of him.

Royal Rother Actually, why do I bother trying to educate?

People will never ever listen.

Perhaps they're just posting gut feelings that they can't back up and so don't need or want educating...
