Tough shout. I don't think Barry gains an advantage in terms of his own momentum but if Shorey is about to jump to contest the ball (and I can't decide from his movement whether he is or isn't) Barry's preventing him from doing so. Seen them given, seen them not.

Pandoras Box If we had done the same thing - it would have been disallowed.

yep agreed...its a big team goal....if reading/southampton/wigan/fulham/any small EPL eam scored that it would have been disallowed

just like the bikey goal v watford in the famous goal that never was game - funny how watford fans forgot about that

It was a foul. And yet another in a long line of shit calls which have gone against us this season so far;

Brian McDermott "This has happened to us at Chelsea, Wigan, Southampton, all penalties, the handball against Newcastle, it is happening too regularly in my opinion. I've had referees ring me on a Monday and say they've made a mistake but how many times has it got to be? I said to the referee he'll see it and be gutted. It's happened too often, and people in football will move on quickly because it's Reading. Let's have a fair playing field. It's hard enough as it is when you're playing Tevez, Aguero, Silva, Toure, sensational players."

And as far as "blaming" Shorey for not jumping Brian added;

Brian McDermott Asked whether Shorey could have jumped or even gone to ground, Brian said, "I apportion no blame to Nicky, what can he do? When someone is on your back, how can you get off the ground? It's a massive error from the referee. It's an absolute joke.

Just like the first quote I agree with him on this too. I in no way blame Shorey for not jumping when the full weight of another player is being placed on his shoulders and head...

Possibly was a foul, would of liked to see Shorey be more committed to winning it. It's not really worth moaning about, the previous 6 games have cost us, not this decision

6 points off the top of our 4 team mini league, not even half the season played yet, transfer window still to come and the other 3 teams in our mini league have all to come to our place yet.

Well this decision has undeniably cost us a point, and considering last time we were relegated it was on goal difference...

Divvy BM "No blame to Nicky, what can he do? When someone's on your back how can you get off the ground?"

This quote says it all for me.
How the hell is Shorey supposed to jump and contest the header if Barry is all over his back????
Clear foul.

Watched it again after reading the comments on here. It looks to me like Shorey chooses too try and hold Barry back rather than out-ump him. His arms go out and his weight shifts backwards before Barry arrives. No foul. If he'd missed there'd be shouts for a penalty.

Yeah, including Soggy Biscuit is pretty weak.

As for me:

Negative? Sometimes.
Snide? Probably.
Anti-RFC? Never.

Seriously - if you don't want to debate then stick me on ignore. I'm sure I'll cope

You see fouls given 9 times out of 10 for that type of thing in the centre circle. I don't think you'd expect more than one of those a season allowed in the penalty box.

As a defender Shorey's aim should have been to clear the ball from the cross.

Not sure what he was attempting to do. On this occasion made the wrong call.

I'd say no but you certainly should have had a penalty.

It seemed like the typical "foul" that could be given anywhere else on the pitch but not in the away team's box at the home of the champions.

How fcking embarrassing is it that so many people think it was a foul. How desperate are you all?
Not even slightly a foul. He makes no attempts to play the ball.

Idiots.

After watching it again on the telly this morning is totally agree with this view.

Shorey thought he could block Barry off instead of taking command and just winning the header. He got that decision wrong. I don't think you'd ever get a penalty for the block on Tabb either but the handball would rightly be given on many occasions.

So if you just stood still whilst someone two-footed you at knees height it wouldn't be a foul becuase you 'made no attempt to play the ball'? It takes a millisecond to jump, he may have been just about to.
Idiot.
