That's a different offence though so has nothing to do with it.

Shorey's been mediocre at best in the past 3 or 4 games, especially compared to the 10 before.

The starting back 4 were very well organised yesterday.

I think having Pearce back organising things must help as I don't see any of the other centre halfs taking as much control as he does (they might do it less obviously of course). There was a move on the MOTD highlights, when Federici saved from Tevez, when Harte showed the lack of awareness or positioning that's always presented a problem. Although Tevez wasn't offside Harte was 3 yards behind everyone else when coming out. A bit sloppy really.

I voted yes because that was my first reaction it was certainly one of those that a different ref would probably have dissallowed the goal.

Aston Villa away anybody?
Same sort of goal.
It's too late to worry and please Brian and the fans don't keep going on about how little clubs get nothing-I thought Brian was better than that but he has been caught up in the trap of Premier managers always moaning with Ferguson and Wenger the worst of them all.
It's the same all over the world where the perception is that the big clubs get the favourable decisions, they moan about it in Spain,Germany and Italy.
Get over it and "move on".

I thought it was a fairly clear foul to be honest.

The "foul" on Tabb was never a penalty. The handball should have been, but it was too subtle to expect the referee to see that.

Reminded me of a headed goal that Glen Little had disallowed away at Gillingham in a monsoon many Years ago; sometimes they are allowed to stand, sometimes they aren't. Such is life.

Did Shorey appeal that he had been fouled? No.

Was it a foul? It's a 50-50 decision and it didn't go our way, some refs would of given it. Oh well, time to 'move on' and get us 6pts in the next two games, pretty please.

urz13 It takes a millisecond to jump, he may have been just about to.

Given where the ball was crossed from. There was plenty of time to position himself.

On the flip side, if we'd scored it and it had been given a foul you would have all been fuming.

Swing and roundabouts...

Leading up to the goal, Shorey was way out of position. He'd only just got back when faced with the decision of how to cope with Barry. He took the Roberts approach of bending over and backing in to the opposing player, which is fine when up field, but criminal in defence.

As already stated, Shorey's positioning has been woeful of late particularly in the Man U and Arsenal games. The fact that Cummings was worse allowed him to slip under the radar.

Shorey rightly took the plaudits for coming in and replacing the pedestrian Harte, but his recent performances suggest he is no longer bulletproof.

CayeneMatt Leading up to the goal,

Barry walked past Legsofwood... who was his man and just lets him go. If you watch the replay Legsofwood just watches the ball by the penalty spot instead of actually staying with Barry if he did that no goal and we will be talking about a hard earned point instead of debating a thing that can't be changed.

I think he is the bigger culprit and will continue be our downfall with him in the team.

This. Yes it was a foul on Shorey, but look at the bigger picture. Once again we've conceded because Legsofwood lost his man and once again it's a cross from the right-hand f*cking side.

A lot of people on here saying get over it, but the fact of the matter is if it was the other way round and we had scored it wouldnt of been given

West Stand Flash How fcking embarrassing is it that so many people think it was a foul. How desperate are you all?
Not even slightly a foul. He makes no attempts to play the ball.

Idiots.

So if you just stood still whilst someone two-footed you at knees height it wouldn't be a foul becuase you 'made no attempt to play the ball'? It takes a millisecond to jump, he may have been just about to.
Idiot.

Well said.

As a neutral I'd say that when I saw it for the first time I thought it was a clear foul. Once it was analysed a gazillion times and I heard the opinion of ex-players and looked at things like Shorey looking for Barry to block his run (which is fair enough) rather than play the ball I don't think it was a foul.

It was a penalty earlier on though

I really don't think the opinions of ex-players are to be trusted. These are the same men who think that it is okay to kick someone in the chest if you aren't looking.

Ray Wilkins says it's a foul, that we were robbed and what Ray Wilkins says, goes!
