THE LEGEND MIKE GOODING SUGGESTED

by RFC13LHR » 27 Dec 2012 19:08

THE LEGEND MIKE GOODING SUGGESTED that it might be a very good idea to use Jimmy Kebe as the front man
Adie thought he was mad

but maybe not

reasoning (mine)

he's not doing well where he is - wanders in and out of the game

Pog is not doing the job we need - when he gets it he does not hold, but chest or passes it to where the next (mythical) player should be (and so it goes back to the opposition)

but he has pace and is able to run at defences that he will cause chaos - and obviously double marking

Imagine Kebe is in our centre circle, feds clears out to just beyiond their centre circle, whilst in flight jimmy starts his run - chaos in their defence

Kebe is made of paper, first decent challenge by a center half and he will be out for six weeks

Same discussion as we were having , think its a great idea. He always wants to run inside, why not in towards the goal. Quite capable of scoring as he has proven. Doesn't want to make himself available for the ball though which could cause a major problem. Can't see it ever happening.

The problem ia kebe has played as a winger his whole career he is 28 or 29 now. There is absolutely no point in trying to convert him from a winger to a center forward now this late in his career. Wilfred zaha on the other hand would still be able too much like thirey henry.

urz13 Whose 'Mike' Gooding?

He used to manage Reading along with James Quinn.
To be honest, that's not a bad shout. The season is basically over so why not try something different?

He did actually play through the middle at a previous club for a while.

Gooding has suggested this before, a few years ago.

Mick is a fantastic voices to have on the radio. Well done BBC in getting him in. As is Adie. I can't help thinking that he was simply trying to stir up debate.

I'm a rightback/ right winger and largely because it's piss easy only worrying about looking left and dipping in every now and then. When youre in the centre it's a COMPLETEY different game. A dedicated right winger, especially, fragility Kebe, won't be able to do it.

Would love to see it tried though out of interest!

He's doing perfectly fine.

The reason he's in and out of the game is because- shock horror- he's a winger. Most of them don't do much with the ball whenever it is on the other side of the pitch.

Kebe up front is bonkers, but if we played the 4-5-1 with the attacking midfielders supporting the striker, then I'd be all for Kebe being one of them.

Gunter -------------- Mariappa -------------- Pearce ----------------- Shorey

------- Leigertwood ------------- Guthrie ----------------- Karacan ----------

---------------- Kebe ------------------------------------- McAnuff -------------

----------------------------------- Pogrebnyak -----------------------------------

What's he doing wrong where is?

He's playing right wing and part time right back......................give him broom and he can sweep the touchline in his down time :|

I've always thought Kebe could play in the hole but I'm not sure he's built to sustain the inevitable battering the lone striker takes.

With kebe and Karacan and pearce back and Feds back to form were pretty much a different side.

One that most discard as dead crts for relegation. Would love to see these guys piss all over the division as they put weaker sides against us.

^ this when we're on the attack, and when defending then Kebe gets back to right midfield and covers the right-back, and the same with McAnuff and the left-back. At the moment though it feels more like we're trying to tighten up first, find our feet with the formation and then we'll learn how we go forward. But that looks like it would work well on both counts.
