Perhaps I'm naive of Brazilian football, but that seems a big step back or him.

He started off well enough at Milan but has struggled for a while now, though has had a lot of injuries. Don't forget the big push to get Brazilian footballers back in Brazil though, lots of money washing around some the football clubs there now due to the restructed TV deal (a booming economy doesn't hurt either)

Remember Corianthians offered £35M for Tevez last year. Ronaldinho is reportedly on £100,000 a week at Flamengo too.

Neymar is believed to be on around £125,000 a week after tax hence why he is happy not to move to Europe just yet. 7 different businesses pay his wages as Santos couldn't afford to.

Ronaldino isn't at Flamengo - he was 'released' because they couldn't afford the wages.

Makes you wonder if not a lot of Brazilian clubs will go bust, it is a 3rd world economy over there and I can't see how they can afford to compete with european clubs long term.

Actually it's one of the fastest growing economies and not as bad as you make out. As with every developing economy though there is vast inequality

New tv deal changed Brazilian football. Clubs negotiated their own deal meaning its a bit like Spain but with more than 2 clubs at the head of the table. Add in a truly thriving economy, 3rd part ownership that often works quite well and extra parties paying wages (like Neymar - Santos plus 7 companies, one of which is Santander Bank, pay his monthly wage) and things are looking pretty healthy, I think.

Does surprise me that a deal for Demba Ba hasn't been done by someone, somewhere. £7m for a striker who got 16 PL goals last season and has 11 so far this - he's a bargain at that price, but only Arsenal are rumoured (and denied) in for him.

Sky sources say Ba's representatives are meeting Chelsea tonight.

Ba also gets 1/3 of the transfer fee himself if reports last week were to be believed

Liverpool  in for Wesley Sneijder. Can't help thinking all this will do is see Ferguson finally take the plunge on the midfielder.

Good signing if it goes through. 2nd highest Prem scorer in a struggling team and an improvement on what looks like the outgoing Sturridge.

Massive improvement over Sturridge imo. Will be interesting to see just how well he does with the pressure of a top four side.
