I give the crowd 10 for being noisy all through the game. Everyone got behind the team and I think it helped the players

There were far too many quiet spells. We were far from on form today.

Worked hard and I love the attitude of "we are in a relegation scrap so lets make sure the opposition know it".

There are still negatives: Legsofwood still playing, given too much possession to the opposition and when we have the ball not making much use of it.

Federici- 8, Nearly back to his best. Good saves, just few errors in his kicking.
Gunter- 7, GG against a few tricky Jarvis. IMO better than Cummings.
Pearce- 9, Excellent. Please sign! I love his passion and his grit to win the ball.
Mariappa- 8, Works well with Pearce, has pace and can win headers. As long as Gorkss is no where near our team the better.
Harte- 6, Shorey is far better. He misses headers and I don't really see what he adds what Shorey already did. I am scared what Lennon is going to do to him.
Karacan- 8, Worked is socks off and is able to pass the ball. Only negative is he needs to be quicker to release the ball when he is running.
Leigertwood- 5. Needs to be shipped out and Huddleston as an example brought in. Legsofwood has the same touch as an elephant, gets easily beat and occasionally wins the ball. Our massive weak point.
McAnuff- 7, Improved. Some good runs and good defending. Kept fighting and a solid captain performance.
Kebe- 7, Solid performance. Good attacking and good defending. Only negative he allows crosses to come in. Also did well as he didn't react to that twat O'brien.
Guthrie- 7, Got the ball down and works very hard for the team. Still don't think he suits a CAM role but ATM having a good go at it. Also tries to get us keeping the ball but that means we pass to legsofwood and well you no the rest...
Pogrebnyak- 8, Worked his socks off! A well taken goal and if that was Hunt he would have fluffed his lines. Did very well against two hard CB's and was linked with all our good play.

Subs- Worked their socks off and played a massive part in getting us all three points.

McDermott- finally realising 4-5-1 is the way to go, a few additions in January especially a CDM and a CAM then maybe just maybe we could do the impossible but if we can't I will be happy enough for McDermott to continue at the helm.

IMO

SLAMMED KUMB is always a good read after we beat them

Quite a few sensible contributions, tbf. We are shit, Kebe did have them rattLOLed and they were indeed fortunate to have eleven on the pitch at the end. However, Nolan had us ratlled and Pog could have easily seen two yellows on another day. It's just that the roundabouts swung our way today, that's all.

Scrappy game but the right result at the end. I am however worried about out goalscoring under 4-5-1 we won't be gifted a goal like we were today every week.

Good game and great effort and desire from everyone of our players.

West Ham the horrible outfit we always seem to come up against -and beat. Players are just a bunch of arrogant twats - especially the obese scouser Nolan. The fans walking to the game made me chuckle too. Bigging themselves up, slagging our fans and team off. Heard it all before - and same result. Reading win. When will they learn to keep quiet. I can see them going down when/if they get pulled into the scrap because the players won't fight for the cause.

Staying up is going to be tough, but we restricted them to few chances today and should have killed the game off from one of the great openings that we created/there defence gifted us.

Onwards and upwards.

Don't agree with that at all. We outsang them for the entire match. Was very very loud in Y25. I love beating those mo fo's time & time again.

Outfought & outsung sung today you little chavs. Not bad for a bunch of plastics eh? We saw you all sneaking out with 15 mins to go.

Now F*** off back to barking with your bubble machine & your shite yellow turrets.

That was an ugly win against a dirty West Ham team with Mariappa and Pearce superb at the back.

Shit game, two shit teams playing shit. I was however delighted to see how poor West Ham were, and was very pleased to have won.

I'm taking the credit for it though - I'm wearing the same generic megastore tat t-shirt that I wore to the Everton match, and clearly that's what's making the difference.

I'm near the back of Y26 and there were plenty of quiet spells today. It was decent, don't get me wrong, but to say we outsang them all game is way off the mark.

Anyone in B18 see why the jobsworth prick of a steward stormed up to the top of the stand and told the people standing up to sit down even though they were in the top row?

I was here plenty before the game so only right I am when you've turned us over. Congratulations on the win.

Considering we didn't play boxing day that's a very poor result for us.

Hoop Blah Not the prettiest obviously but that is still a massive result and one that was earned with guts and hard work, with a slice of good fortune thrown in for good measure.

Pearce and Mariappa were outstanding today, even if they were 2 v 1 for most of the game the way West Ham play means the centre halfs are put under a lot of pressure and they handled it with ease most of the time. For a short fella Mariappa won an amazing amount of headers.

Karacan, probably just beating the above as my man of the match, was every where and supported Pogrebnyak really well without exposing the back four.

Remaining special mentions go to Pogregnyak and Guthrie who both showed a glimpse of what we should've been seeing from them for most of the season.

Lets hope this team has 'found it's identity' again and we carry on this mini revival and at least look like a team that is trying to stay in this league and not treating every game as a jolly boys day out and chance for little old Reading to cause an upset.

Pretty good summary as usual HB.
A Championship quality game where we managed 2 shots on target and they about 4.
Horrible stuff but:-
The central defenders were steady up against one striker
Feds did his normal now 2 terrific saves and his confidence is high again
Jem gave his tremendous energy in midfield which lifted players around him
Jimmy once again provided good support as a second right-back
Pog-the day that he fully arrived at our club (because the owner was there?)with a whole-hearted performance especially as at times he was so much a lone striker that none of our other players were within 20 yards of him.
Special thanks to Collins and Vaz Te for making sure that we got the much needed 3 points, without them it could have been nothing.

When the other West Ham player tried to match the terrible back pass by Collins that gifted us our goal I wondered whether many roubles had changed hands.
If we avoid defeat against Bale-less Spurs I might even start to believe like Brian does but at least now that we have got points in the past 2 games there is a reason for the owner to dig into those deep pockets and if we bring in 4 or 5 ready for first team action we might have a chance.
The New Year prospects do look just a bit brighter than they did 4 days ago.

Result. So proud to win a game, play better and especially beating those arseh*les. They are far too up themselves.

Can we play you every week? We'd be Champions if we did!

After watching Football Focus at the Mad Stad, there was such a feel good factor, Alfie in his interview, Roberts, McDermott and Anton. There seems to be some positivity in the air, lets hope it continues!

Unlike the games where we have deserved something and got nothing......this was the opposite.

Two thirds posession to the hammers over the 90.............less than enamoured how we kept giving the ball back to them from the majority of our throw ins and won tackles.

3 points is all that matters

So Maps and Pearce look like a good pairing? I think Pearce and Morro should be our first choice two, but is good to know we have backup if needed.
