Serious question lads. Is the general dislike of Brendan Rogers by Reading fans due to him not being very good when he was your manager ? Or did he stab you in the back when he left ?

Serious answer. There isn't a general dislike for Rodgers amongst Reading fans, just a vocal few.

Good bloke but the wrong man for the job is all. Bit of a clown though (big book of tactics etc) and talks some shit - but most managers do.

Most Reading fans would like to see him succeed

We could do with a turn around of form at QPR today.

The problem with Rodgers was that he really didn't know what his best team was, he was obsessed with systems and his big book of tactics.

I'm not sure that fly on the wall documentary about him joining Liverpool did him any favours either as he really did come across as a clueless prat.

My favourite bit was the, 'disappointment envelopes,' a technique stolen from the manager of the club that Liverpool fans consider to be their biggest rivals.

It would be interesting to see documentaries about other managers to make a comparison.
The 3 others that I can recall,Graham Taylor,Steve Claridge and Peter Reid have hardly shown them in a very good light and I guess it would be the same for most other managers who appear to be blinkered or even blind as well as stupid.

It's because he comes across as a prick really. I'm not that fussed about his poor performance for us, he oxf*rd up, he got sacked. That's that.

Strange definition of 'a prick', but fair enough!

I'm not sure that there is a general "dislike" of Rodgers; a few of the usual trolls froth at the mouth at a mere mention of the guy, but personally, I thought he was a decent bloke, but he came over as arrogant and out of touch, and seemingly thought that regardless as to what happened with results and League position, he was asbestos. It also didn't help that he was following Coppell, who has Legend status here.

Classic case of right bloke, wrong time. Hope he has continued success wherever he goes (but personally I thought he should have stayed at Swansea and wait for Wenger to leave Arsenal).

Serious question back - how long will the Liverpool fans give him before turning on him as they did with the current England manager, and under what criteria would he be seen as succesful?

The difference between Rogers and Hodgson is the style of play. Hodgson was constantly telling Reina and Carragher to hoof it. He was also embarrasing in interviews. We lost 2 - 0 against Everton and we were atrocious but Hodgson said we played really well. Same after a draw with Napoli. I expected a similar league position to last season (8th) and still do. The fans seem to like him and are backing him.

As a (not very closet) Liverpool fan I read their forums too - there's been a noticeable change in tack amongst supporters since Rodgers came in. Reality has dawned, so to speak, that the club are mid-table and can expect to be for the forseeable future.

Rodgers has his detractors - amazing what fans pick up in the press, it's about the same stuff, 'big book of tactics', 'massive watch' and so on - but on a thread started by someone who wants Rodgers out, Brendan has received almost universal support over a few pages of replies, and there's a lot of praise for his style of football, how he is succeeding in getting the team to play that way, and his faith in some of Liverpool's younger players.

The general feeling is that the club is in safe hands if Rodgers is given a few years at the helm, and of an outside shot at 4th next season with investment in the summer.

This season has been written off by many, 7th or 8th and a decent go at the Europa League considered a good return, from where they are now.

How shite is Sterling now? Even QPR can handle him.

A few decent games but been really poor for a long time now.

He has just turned 18. Most kids blow hot and cold at that age when playing first team football in the prem. He became a first team regular when only 17. If we had a stronger squad he would have had more breaks. Probably played to many games in the prem than is ideal tbf. Loads of ability and a good prospect.

Had to laugh at the Official LFC Twitter feed saying that Rodgers missed the game through having Gonorrhoea, then changing it a few minutes later to Diarrhoea!!
