What's that got to do with it? You said it wasn't surprising because he'd been to school here for a couple of years, not that it was because he was well off and not an uneducated lower class johnny foreigner.

As it happens, I know plenty of well educated foreigners who've lived here for years and hold down decent jobs but can't speak the language that well. Not millionaires no, but conversly I know a couple of 'working class' people from the ex-USSR who speak very good English.
