The only way to resolve this paradox is for Reading to sign the lad asap. Or the space time continuum WILL collapse.

LoyalRoyal22
LoyalRoyal22 Sure he is decent on FIFA. But why would it be a free transfer in January???

Am i missing something here...

contract up in the summer, he has made it clear he wants out, he has fallen out with 2 of the last 3 managers there, Sporting Lisbon are the Portuguese equivalent of Portsmouth and are desperate for money (while also 2 points outside of a relegation place)

Would be a much reduced transfer fee

This guy also backs up the rumours Carrico was at the game Saturday. We'll see..

Same guy says he heard Huddlestone was a no-no.

@andybrassell [Freelance European football writer & broadcaster for BBC, The Independent, ESPN, The Blizzard, Four Four Two, Talksport] also backs up the deal is close.

Again, we'll see. Great if true.

Hi guys, im a sporting fan. I know Carrico well, he is a great player, plays well as a defensive midfielder aswell.
Decent pace, good tackler. Brilliant player overall. He should do well in the BPL.
It is official.

Cheers Sporting-CP, always good to hear the verdict of someone who has seen him first hand. Is he a better centre back or defensive mid? I think most of our fans think we need a DM more.

I still don't understand why he's coming to us.

Why aren't any bigger clubs interested, especially at that price when he was so sought after in the past? Why is he even leaving Sporting CP? This could be a brilliant signing. 8)

I would say he is better as a CB. He was always a CB but last season the manager switched him to a DM, it didnt work at first he was pretty poor but eventually he grew into the position and hes a good DM now.

I <3 Carrico.

By Legs.

Daniel Carrico Reading will represent the club in the Premier League. Former captain 'unfair' contract expired at the end of June 2013, having served Sporting a claim by the athlete moving to England in January.
The central defender arrived at Sporting in 2000/01 to join the roster of sub-13. Early started wearing the captain's armband, he became national champion and in 2008/09 squad reached the professional club, after having been on loan for one season (2007/08), Olhanense and AEL Limassol .

At the time of parting, Daniel Carrico left a message to Sporting.

"Dear Sporting, partners and friends,
It is with mixed emotions that I write this farewell message. I'm leaving the club in my heart, where I had the privilege of graduating and serving for several years. I leave because I understand that I am a stage career in which I have to take chances. Moreover, the proposed project is extremely exciting to me and know I can succeed. I know my output does not affect the normal operation of the Club and to which I hope one day to return. I wish the Sporting Clube de Portugal to return to winning ways quickly and I ask you also, as captain, to continue to support the team, the club and its officers and employees. To all of you who supported me over the years, thank you very much, I'll take you with me in my heart.
Hug Daniel Carrico "

Sporting will receive 750,000 euros for the transfer of Daniel Carrico, being also secured a pass percentage of a future transfer.

He wasnt getting any game time this season and this has been Sportings worst season in the First division to date, and the club desperately needs money.
