MORE THAN A RUMOUR: Church to Millwall

by RedRum » 01 Jan 2013 22:20

Can't see this posted anywhere.
Can't say i'd be particularly sad to see him go, he did a good job for us and always gave 100%, but never going to make it to the 1st team now.

Millwall make bid to improve strike-force with offer for Reading's Simon Church
Last Updated: January 1, 2013 5:58pm

Sky Sports understands that Millwall have made a bid to sign striker Simon Church from Reading.

Kenny Jackett is looking to improve his attacking options to help the Lions push on during the second half of the season and challenge for promotion from the Championship.

Chris Wood has been a key player for Millwall during a loan spell from West Bromwich Albion but has since joined Leicester City, leaving Jackett to look elsewhere.

Church has been identified as a target and it is understood that an offer has been made to bring him in from Reading.

The 24-year-old, who has recently had a spell on loan with Huddersfield Town, has been with Reading since the start of his career but is out of contract in the summer.

Can't see him being successful at The New Den. He is way too gentle for them and not nasty enough.

He's not going to play for us, so I hope he gets a move and a chance to start again.

Well that's a bit more helpful than just the say-so of some intermediate.

But not much.

FFS, I'll do it myself.

"Brian also confirmed that Millwall have made an enquiry about Simon Church – and that Director of Football Nick Hammond was handling the matter."

Wish him luck if he goes and will be a good move for him. He must be 25 by now and has never really kicked on despite the promise he showed early in his career. Last season was his last chance to establish himself, but it never really happened for him. Nice lad, but just not the level we need.

I thought Kenny Jackett was doing pretty well until I read this.
