melonhead heard brian say he was versatile and could play in 3 positions.
slightly worried if hes for CDM- portuguese bloke on talk sport said that was not his best position, as he isnt good enough on the ball.

strap Well I for one am baffled. One the hand McD spouts on about the desire to bring in 2 or 3 players of proven premier league experience, yet on the other, he buys a CD/CDM player from Portugal who has played twice this season in the Portuguese League, and is about to sign a 20 year old Aussie who only made his professional debut (in Oz ffotball), in January this year.
Presimably themn, we can still expect another "2 or 3 players of proven premier league experience" to be brought in, or are these 2 in place of the aforementioned? Frankly, I can;lt see how these two could be thrown straight into the team - surely a degree of acclimatisation/fitness build-up/learning the RFC way will be needed before they can sensibly be asked to rescue our season?
All seems very muddled and "fingers crossed" management - unless of course the cunning plan is to accpet relegation this season and build for a promotiuon season next?
Obviously judgement reserved until February 1st, but initial thoughts are, as I say, very muddled!

he did also say that the club would find it very hard to bring in those sorts of players due to our history/current position.

Still in 2012 clearly! Yes, debut was in January 2012, and that was only A-League, so not exactly at PL standard..

Big ErnRoyal RotherBig Ern Also, if he was so cheap and being monitored by the likes of Citeh and Man United, why didn't someone else go for him?
RFC fans' inferiority complex lives on.
Valid point actually. If the likes of Barca and the above mentioned clubs were 'linked' to him, I would have expexcted him, like most rational people to questionwhy he didn't get an offer from a bigger club than us.
You may not like to hear it, but there are actually bigger clubs in the world than Reading FC.

genome "There was talk of Manchester United taking a look at him very seriously a couple of years ago, and fees of £20 million were quoted. This is obviously a great opportunity for Reading - I think it’ll work out really well for them, it’s an extraordinary bargain – they say there’s no value in January, but it could turn out to be an incredible signing. It’s great for the player too."

We want two or maybe three players plus Daniel. We’ll see, you know what January is like

this is what got me excited about carrico to begin with, the fact that both manchester clubs were looking at him as well as a few other big name clubs. what worries me is that they didnt go in for him which means that he must have had some fatal flaw in him that made them not want him. on the other hand if he is almost good enough for united then surely he is still higher class than most of our team!

But then it doesn't seem to stop QPR and Soton trying to do the same?!
Oh rich owners. Oh. Put your money where your mouth is. Oh.
