SPARTA +2
We'll have a bloody good squad next season. AZ will be right to expect an immediate return. BM will be under immense pressure to get it right and early on for once too.

PistolPeteNo Fixed Abode Getting the squad together for Championship football it seems.
I have no idea if you're always this negative, and I suppose I don't know if that statement was meant in a positive or negative way, however signing the captain of Sporting Lisbon is hardly 'preparing for the Championship'. Carrico's wages will not be Championship that's for sure...

reader By memory rogic already spent a fair period training with us about a year ago and scored a couple for the reserves. Reports are that the deal will be done by today/tomorrow. Hopefully he can add to the team immediately, we lack a big of creativity up front IMHO

winchester_royal I think the management are in a slightly better position than us to judge though IR, given that they've seen him in training for a couple of weeks and we're working off a 2 minute youtube clip...

Obviously, but we don't actually know we're signing him for certain or whether he's meant to slot straight in. And what's the point in assuming the management have got every signing spot on? You can only make a judgement based on the available evidence and he wouldn't be the first foreign turkey we buy, or the first punt to be a total waste of time.

Of course, but I think this is a long way from the Cedric Baseya type transfers we used to make.

true. but if i do remember correctly we have been after this lad for a long time. i want to say back to last janurary? i assume this means that they have been watching him and know his style of play and their full plans for him. we will find out soon enough what our plans are for him, if we buy him.
edit: just read back to the first page on this thread and we have been linked to him since may of last year. surely this means we know a bit about him.

yappy Watched an A league highlights programme on Sky to get a glimpse of the guy, and all it showed of him was him missing a sitter and then being sent off. Still, quite hopeful on this one, he sounds promising.

Here are five facts about Tom Rogic, a gifted attacking midfielder on the verge of joining Reading from the Australian League.
It was clear Reading needed to bring in additional players this January to fend off the threat of relegation. Tom Rogic is a 20-year-old Australian on the verge of signing for the side from the Central Coast Mariners. His contract with the Australian side expires in May which means this could be good business for the struggling Premier League club.
Here are five facts about the player.
1) As a Junior, Rogic won a competition called The Chance and was rated as one of the best eight young players in the world in 2011.
2) He made his professional debut for the Central Coast Mariners on January 21 2012 during the 2011/2012 season match against Adelaide United.
3) He rejected the chance to move to an unnamed Australian side during the summer opting to stay with current side CCM where he has scored five goals in 24 matches.
4) He’s made one appearance for the Australian Under 23 side and four appearances for the full Australian senior team.
5) The history of Rogic’s family lays in Serbia. He was born in Griffith, Australia and was born and bred in the country and he has only ever played for Australian teams and clubs.
