It'll be funny when the papers realise they've mistaken Man Utd player Danny Welbeck for ex Man Utd trainee Sylvain Ebanks-Blake.

Franchise FC
super darren caskey It isnt beyond the realms of possability

Im sure Sir Alex could stick a call back clause in there if he needs him

I'no expert by any means but I thought that PL to PL loans were for the entire period of the loan with no recall option.

The recall option that Liverpool have with Carroll is only enforceable during the transfer window - at least that's how I understand it.

Oh right i didnt know that

No-one is going to save our season, but anyone who doubts Welbeck is an infinitely better player than anyone in our current squad needs their head looking at.

Well it'd make up for the "non-entities" we keep signing and show some real ambition at last. We'd just need some midfield creativity to go with it.

Oh and if it came off we could see a "Reading player" in the England squad again :D

You don't sound negative, you just sound lacking in knowledge about the game.

Can someone ask CamberleyRoyal if he's seen a young coloured guy with a high top fade in the hotel?

And I'd love this to be true if nothing else so that we have a player with the aforementioned high top fade.

McD has said any player brought in on loan must have a decent chance of subsequently signing permanently, so can't see this one happening. Would love to be proved wrong, though.

I reckon McAnuff and Leigertwood probably sported one once.

On the basis of your implication that Welbeck won't offer us much.

He also said we were only going to look at Premiership experienced players. He lies, get over it.

Quite possibly..... 'Infinitely better' is a bit strong IMHO..... I think it's fair to say that Welbeck get's far better service from his team mates at Utd than he will from anybody wearing a Reading shirt. Surely this lack of service is likely to restrict his scoring opportunities somewhat? While I agree that it might be seen as a 'coup' for the club if we secure his services it would be foolish to see him as an answer to all of our ills......

I don't think anyone is. No-one thinks one player is going to keep us up. We'd need to sign half of Ferguson's squad to guarantee that.

And disagree on his ability. People often go a bit narrow-minded when it comes to bringing players into Reading, imho. Players like Bent, Defoe, Zaha - they have be deemed not good enough for Reading on this board at some point. Perspective people - Welbeck >>>>>>>> Le Fondre, Hunt, Roberts, sorry!

Hmm, England international (5 goals in 14 games) and a key player for United before RVP came in v. Noel Hunt and Adam Le Fondre

You're right, I just can't see the reasoning behind this move.

FTR, I'll be amazed if we pull this off without a team higher up the table stepping in and taking him (assuming he's available for loan in the first place).

I'm skeptical that this will happen, but I'd take it.

He's definitely a better player than any striker in our squad and a good age for a loan, but how would be adapt to our direct style of play?
