No, I'd prefer ALF to Noel Hunt
I wasn't moaning..... I was throwing a question out to the intellectual might of HobNob.....

Apologies if I assumed your question mark was obsolete. I despair at some of the views on here sometimes and I thought you were siding with your question...

mathematically_safe i think i'd do a little sex wee if he signed

Me too.

Fook me, this would be a sign of intent and no bloody mistake. I'm skeptical, but wowzers. He'd probably do a pretty good job up top on his own, he's definitely better than Hunt, ALF and Roberts. Probably Pog too. I'd rather we made a similar quality signing in midfield than him upfront because I think that's more where our problem lies and I like ALF and Pog, but this would be B I G.

Why would he come here?

Surely he has better options.

I find this baffling.

I can see Wellbeck going out on loan. He's 4th striker at Utd, they have a lot of attacking talent on the wings which they often use in 4-3-3

Nani and Kagawa are back from injury. I just don't see him starting as many games.

But.......if Utd are competing on all 3 fronts he may get starts in some of the lesser games ( + do Utd need cover)

Be surprised if he came to us, mind

Whether he comes or not, negotiating with the like of Man United for England international strikers at least proves that McDermott and the board have plenty of intent and are putting money where mouths are, none of this "accept relegation and build for next year" nonsense.

If he signs though I will die of excitement.

Presumably, MU would not want him going to a rival Prem team. If he came to us a) we are not really a rival as far as the Prem title goes (no, honestly, let's not kid ourselves!), but b) he could score goals against, and help take points from, genuine rivals.

We're def struggling to link up our play in the oppositions half when we're in "keep it tight mode".

Would obviously be a tremendous signing. But I can't believe it would happen, like Defoe, Arshavin etc, widely reported means nothing. Dont think a relegation battle is a great place to learn your trade.

Still....

Federici - Shorey, Pearce, Mariappa, Gunter - McAnuff, Caricco, Karacan, Kebe - Pogrebnyak, Welbeck

with Morrison, Leigertwood, Guthrie, Robson-Kanu, McCleary, Le Fondre, Roberts in reserves does sound fairly tasty!

Getting proven high quality loans in for us at this stage in the season is a really sensible idea (especially if this one comes off!).
Sat on the bottom, we are going to struggle to attract the right people (even Rogic is reconsidering) and will end up throwing good money after bad...

if we stay up
then it gives us a chance to re-invest in the summer and attract more players with the prospect of at least one full season without the stigma of impending doom from a relegation scrap.

If we go down
Fortunately we are currently investing in "future" championship calibre players  so we won't haven't pi55ed a load of money up the wall for nothing and avoid the Portsmouth/ Leeds scenario and our bets will be hedged

Surely they'd rather he was scoring goals and winning games with them instead, he is pretty high up their pecking order. I can't see this one happening.
Would be dead chuffed if it did though, naturally.

I meant it in the nicest possible way.

But seriously, don't get this lot too excited. They'll hold it against you when it (inevitable) goes down the pan.

It's alright, been around the block a few times so can take a bashing. Especially from a small minority of keyboard warriors.
Talks are happening but as with other targets the issue lies in the fact that we're not the only ones wanting Danny. Wigan are having a look in too and geographically for the lad Wigan is better. We'll see but from I've been told it's very promising.

Whilst I initially thought 'well everyone will want him', I guess what's going for us is that Ferguson will be unwilling to loan him to any rivals or anyone for whom he might cause a bother - which doesn't leave that many clubs at the bottom of the league.
