Norfolk Royal
ZacNaloen Looks like Carrico is training today, if he's fit would like to see him on the bench against Crawley at least. Make him feel welcome.

'greed. I'd be tempted to give him some sort of game at Crawley, sort of thrown him in sink or swim job, maybe a half or 20 minutes

Christ, I definitely wouldn't play him at Crawley. Just what you need to settle in - getting chucked half-fit into a cup tie at some pokey little ground.

Get all the tests done on him, get him a fitness programme, get him familiar with the squad and the way the team operates eg at set pieces etc. Debut as soon as he's ready, be it ten days, three weeks, whatever.

When are we signing these 'proven Premier League' players then? Surely we aren't going for the 'low risk' signings again? Low risk also - by happy coincidence - tends to mean low cost, of course.

I'm sure QPR' won't have that problem.

Wasn't suggesting he should play the whole game, if we're winning then bung him on at some point just to get a taster. Football isn't quite the rocket science you make out, I mean how long does it take to tell someone where to stand at a corner and free kick?

they have already proven they are alot less fussy about signings, and willing to pay more in fees/wages than us, so youre probably correct.
but their approach is hardly working any better than ours, despite spendibng tens of millions of pounds more than us.

They've done something we haven't looked capable of since, ironically, when we played Chelsea and our new signings all played a part.

You said a half! That doesn't even make sense.

Fair enough if they chuck him on for 15 when we're 3-0 up but it's a bit more complicated than "mark that geezer at free-kicks". You need to drill defences time and again to eg. push up at the same time etc etc.

Obviously difficult to judge a guy based on reserve highlights edited by RFC but he looks pretty tasty in this...

What was the team?

I saw Shorey, Gorkss, Akpan, Carrico, Church, Obita?, Roberts? Karacan?

Carrico actually looked very tidy indeed. I'd probably go as far as ok for Akpan.

No Roberts. He's still out and misses this weekend.

D'Ath was the number 10 who scored the third. Edwards started the game and came off for Akpan. Partridge gave away the pen, and Arnold crossed for Church's 2nd. Ugwu was the big black guy.

Aha, thanks. No wonder I didn't recognise half of them.

I can see Carrico starting for Leig, unless that knee strapping signals a problem.

Karacan and Guthrie *should* also start.

Akpan on bench if he really is ready for this level. (didn't look bad in that friendly tbf)

Think Carrico is due to make his first appearance personally.

Three man midfield with Karacan and Guthrie?
