Charlie Nicholas got his prediction right 3-2. Well done that man.

Why are BTFG threads always started by people who didn't actually go? Not a dig - just asking.

Norfolk Royal
cactuswood So was the penalty given for hand ball (Which the whole of the east stand stood up for) or a foul on Kebe. Didn't look like the lino was gonna give anything.

Nailed on foul from the TV replays. Kebe was virtually cut in half. Not sure what the ref was doing going over and talking to him as he lay prone though. It was almost as if he was asking Jimmy whether he should give a penalty or not.

just asking if he needed treatment I think

Linden Jones' Tash
loyalroyal4life I can see this being Gunters last game he was awful, hope shorey comes back into the side as well although he may not change a winning side.

Team looked much improved when we went 4-4-2

I saw it like this... Always amazed at how we see the same game so differently

iMO Gunter was very poor and a waste of £2.5m+ if we have signed Kelly to take this position.

Also, didn't think Guthrie was all that...

The new guy showed promise...

At both the last two comments, particularly the latter. He may have promise but he certainly didn't show any of it today and at times was proving to be a very useful 12th man for WBA! As Williams and Gooding said, you can't blame him for wanting to play when offered the chance but you have to question the sanity of McDermott in dropping him into a critical game at this level with just 6 mins of proper competitive football under his belt this season.

2 world wars, 1 world cup Back from the internet I should say. If Anton ain't going to spend money, why should I. I actually earned mine you see.

Having said that I wish I had gone!! Unbelievable victory.

Feds 7. Couple of good saves, didn't do much wrong.
Gunter 6. Not amazing, but not awful.
Harte 6. Not sh*t surprisingly. Actually watching him closely he put in some awesome balls. Still as I say a good attacking player but just not a left back. Can't fault him today though.
Pearce 7. Quite solid.
Maps 7 quite solid.
Mcanuff 6. Was bullied a bit by jones so did ok. He wasn't bad to be fair. When he came into the centre he did a lot better. Te left side is not a fair position for him.
Carico 4. An excellent clever pass when attacking as a positive. Let's not talk about negatives. He was simply embarrassing.
Needs match fitness but I am see promise.
Karacan 7 worked hard, good tackles.
Guthrie 7. Actually put in quite a few awesome passes. His quality is there.
Kebe 8. An enigma. Awesome then rubbish then awesome. He changed the game. Typical kebe.
Pavel 9. Quite possibly the best finisher I've seen play for reading, and I've watched Cureton and Alfie play. give him half a chance and it's in. We MUST give this guy service.

Mcleary- 6.5. Was ok on the left.
Le fondre 7 Super sub. Hm coming on changed the game.

Brian - 9. BALLS to play Carico when not match fit. But even more balls to take him off so early. Yet more balls still to go for the win. Brian you can keep us up.

With all due respect, how can you give score players if you were not there !!

...

Don't see how someone not at the game can dish out points to the players.

Aww bless.

Here's a hint for ya: you can porn on the Internet too ;)

'Greed with the rofling at IR. Bizarre ratings.

Thought today was the day Danny Guthrie finally stepped up as a Reading player. Orchestrated things in the second half from deep. McCleary was the difference for me though, gave us a genuine threat in the final third and although his final ball was poor he gave us some momentum.

Carrico shouldn't have been on the pitch tbf, but showed enough to suggest he'll be a more than useful player eventually.

WBA were only an excellent Morrison and Lukaku better than us. They didn't look 2 goals greater for the most part, It was just about the composure and quality in the final third (where it counts of course). At least we looked like the home side, much better at keeping the ball than Swansea and West Ham games. Albion were obviously set up to be well organised and then to counter attack.

Thought Guthrie played well along with Pog who had two very formidable opponents to contend with. Good on the players, they stuck to it and took their chances when they came at the end.

WBA fans will be =

I thought it was by far Guthrie's best game in a Reading shirt. When Carrico came off, he got to play in the 'quarterback'/deep lying midfielder role and I thought he really shone. Fantastic range of passing. Actually thought in general we looked very good on the ball and played a good passing game, which is rare but encouraging!

Think we probably saw the best and the worst of Carrico. Looked good defensively, and had some good moments on the ball, but had some shocking ones too. Sure with a bit of match fitness he'll be good. Think the midfield of Carrico, Guthrie and Karacan will be the one going forward.

We always look a lot more threatening with Alfie on the pitch, but not sure if he could play the lone striker role, and we look a lot better defensively since going 4-5-1.

For me the full backs were our two weak spots today, hoping Shorey and Kelly will be able to solve that.

The one position that concerns me the most is left wing. McAnuff was awful first half, and bringing on McCleary made a real difference, but he is out of position there. If we are going to make one more signing this window, I'd like to see a left winger.

McCleary was the game changer for me. We immediately looked more of a threat although Jobi had a ok game today I thought.

Thought the Pog was great. The ref gave him nothing today - was getting roughed up by their 2 CB's all game & acquitted himself very well. He looks up for the fight which is exactly what we need.

Karacan also was a bright point for me.

Football is a funny old game! We actually have a shot, albeit a slim one to stay up. Need a result from Newcastle though.

Ian Royal Federici - 7 super save at 0-0, beaten at the near post for the second, but I'd lay more fault on Mariappa.
Gunter - 6 ok, our problem wasn't down the right today... needs to cross better.
Harte - 5 poor set pieces, gave the ball away easily too often
Pearce - 8 Only defender with any real credit in the bank today, checked by Lukaku for the first goal, great run to their box
Mariappa - 5 ok on the whole, but absolutely gifted Lukaku number two, stood off and just stepped across so he could cut inside and shoot at the whole goal.
Carrico - 5 touch and passing on the whole not bad, not up to speed and poor positioning.
Karacan - 6.5 poor first half, chasing shadows and mis-using the ball, second half winning second balls and keeping pressure up before subbed.
Guthrie - 5 loose telegraphed passing, weak shots, generally just poor
McAnuff - 5.5 as usual, out of the game once moved inside, some flashes, but just so short of confidence its frightening.
Kebe - 8 MotM first half poor, slowed down attacks not really in the game, second half excellent, scored, won a pen and supported the attack
Pog - 7 worked hard, but got stupid service he had little chance with, some loose passes and then a super finish to win the game

McCleary - 8 some poor crossing but stretched them with pace and started getting space as they switched off, ended up putting in dangerous balls we could win the clearances off.
ALF - 8 superb dummy for Kebe for the first, such a cool penalty. I love this guy.

McDermott - 7 not sure his decisions were all right, but I put most of the poor performance mainly down to the players for a change and even if I didn't think he necessarily got both subs 100% right, they bloody worked, and that's all that matters
Ref - 8 don't think he got a lot wrong at all.

You really dont help yourself at times Ian! Quite possibly the most ridiculous ratings I have ever seen on this site! I could take issue with at least 7 of them and Guthries is plain embarrassing.

McCleary and Guthrie, especially Guthrie in the 2nd half who was the player I thought he would be, had major roles in our comeback but it would have never happened if it weren't for Jimmy. Hands down the MotM in my eyes...

We were not at the races for most of the game, but for the last 10 minutes you had to be there to understand it.

Don't see how someone not at the game can dish out points to the players.

Epic finish. In pub now, Great day to BE AT THE MADSTAD !!

its quite simple mate the game is covered by video cameras that allow him to watch it

Gunter was poor for me , Kelly will make us much stronger

So watching it on video shows you all the moves off the ball does it ?? and players working off the ball does it ??

You had to be there to post how the players did MATE !!

Great result from what looked like a lost cause.

West Brom I thought were pretty ordinary apart from Lukaku who was immense and their defence which looked pretty solid. Ridgewell is an iritating twat but played pretty well. We kept pumping balls into their box but never won a header.

We had a lot of possession but seemed clueless as to what to do with it and ended up pumping balls into the channels or up to the Pog. I though Caricco was embarrassingly poor and justifiably subbed at half time. Let's hope more games get him up to speed. Fed looked suspect for their second but it was really just quality from Lukaku. Good game from Guthrie and really looks like he's on a mission. Gunter was poor with some really shit crosses and passes to nowhere, I can see why Kelly is here.

The January dryathon is well and truly over :)

BBC must include Ridgewell, Foster and Olsens timewasting when they were ahead.
