CayeneMatt Good God. If you want to stop half the posters on here thinking you're a total cock end, you need to go to the games and watch. Feds was more to blame for the second. Harte didn't give away the ball once that I saw tho most of his set pieces were shite. Mariappa was far superior to Pearce, Guthrie had a great game and got better, but McAnuff actually improved when he moved in to the middle and supported McCleary well.

Apart from all that Ian, you were spot on.....

Well im glad someone saw the same game as me. The only players we had capable of passing the ball were Harte and Guthrie. Harte played some cracking balls today including pass of the season in the 1st half. A hoddle esq 60 yard cross filed ball that put Kebe through out of nothing. Rather predicatably it got just light applause. Guthrie kept plugging away when all seemed lost. MOM goes to Kebe though who just seemed to haul us out of a hole on his own. The rest were complete mince if im being honest in their general play, but yet again this team wins a game they had no right to. We have done that a hell of a lot in BM's reign.

cmonurz You're getting a bit of a r@ping here, Ian. Might go elsewhere for my game reviews.

No I take it back, that was only the first page. Just the things that stood out for me were some glaringly telegraphed passes from Guthrie 1st half, in a game where we passed a bit better with more possession, but still showed little threat and were by far the second best for 70 minutes. And a midfield that let Morrison roam at will. Saw much more of the threat coming from Kebe & McCleary 2nd half and didn't notice Guthrie doing a lot... maybe that's because it was just simple from deeper. I'll see whether I change my mind from the highlights.

Mariappa would score higher, but for simply atrocious defending for their second.

TBH I don't give a fook, we won.

Kebe confirmed he is a God today.

A goal-line clearance with his head. I watched him looking at the bench, asking should I?
He went back anyway and made that save.

Then there was the moment when WBA broke down the left and kebe was caught upfield.
he turned, caught the player, robbed, him, turned and went back on the attack.

And he scores one, and wins a penalty.

Magic!

Don't understand the negatives on McAnuff.

First half he flew down the wing and was beating players, and doing his usual sterling tackling back.

When he eventually went into central midfield, we did score three goals

Fergie springs to mind. Football - bloody hell!

Was sitting there at 75 minutes thinking that we simply are too short of quality, and way too low on confidence, but that you can't fault the heart. And then they do that.

Trouble is that they won't, can't, do that every week.

Still - isn't that game why we love football? You simply can't beat sport for the theatre, and the sheer joy of being in a crowd going bonkers.

Can't be arsed to rate. Feds and Mariappa both very impressive - except that both were culpable for the second. I really like Mariappa - cool, classy and thinks about it. Great battle with Lukaku - who looks to me that with the right coaching and little luck could become world class one day.

I thought Guthrie looked great on the ball at times - much better than at Spurs. If others around him gain confidence, he could be the key for us. Perhaps with Dan the Man, if he can catch up his fitness defecit.

Kebe seems to have forgotten to run flat out. Is he worried about his 'strings? Yes there was that diagonal burst in the second half - but there was a point in the first when he dispossessed the left winger, turned with the entire pitch open...and stopped. Maybe having Kelly behind him might help. That or a kick up the jacks.

Jobi seemed better inside. Pog has the heart and lungs of a bull, but not much more skill than one. Alfie is a proper handful these days.

If we go down fighting, then these players will get my wholehearted support. If they manage to scrap their way to safety, they will be heroes for life.

I'm not seeing much of an argument, apart from RB on Guthrie., which is fair enough if he saw more from him. Just a bunch of petty abuse from morons.

Plain to see you're the moron today, which is a shame really. You've behaved yourself lately.

I'm with you on LWJ, just to prove its nothing personal.

See my edit.

I'll take people's word for Guthrie, I'm not precious about it. I think maybe I got a bit infected with the criticism he's had recently, when I thought he'd been ok previously. And only noticed and remembered the negative from him, rather than the positive. Although if you read through the reviews, several people do say some of his passing was loose.

Maybe a bit harsh on Mariappa, but he absolutely should have shown Lukaku wide, and he stood off him and showed him inside. Yep, Fed should have done better, but he was caught by surprise by Mariappa doing that and Lukaku suddenly having the entire goal to get a quick shot off at.

Harte absolutely did give the ball away plenty, mostly first half (although there was that superb ball to Kebe). Again it maybe that I just didn't notice the good work he may have done deeper in the second half.

Basically we only really played well for about 15 - 20 minutes, so based on that I don't see how many players can really score that highly. We were deservedly being comfortably beaten and then West Brom switched off and we got a couple of breaks. Lets not forget that West Brom had two great chances where they were caught offside and I think hit the woodwork twice. It could have been a very very different result. I'm looking forward to MotD now though.

rhroyal Feds is escaping a lot of criticism on here. Had we lost, I'm sure we'd all be talking about how he should have saved the second goal.

It looked poor from the East Stansd to me. However having seeen it on replay there is no way he could have covered the near post without leaving a huge gap the other side . Lukaku was getting towaqrds the centre when he shot.

I've had a pop at Guthrie on here in the past after refusing to play or playing shit, but he was class today. Kept the team moving in the second half.

Amazing game, amazing result, just want to give a big two fingers to the North Stand for two reasons:

1) booing the sub of Karacan for ALF and singing "you don't know what you're doing"

2) shouting "fook off back to Russia you useless Russian pcunt" at Pav with 10 mins left

Seriosuly you lot are all oxf*rd and I hate you.

winchester_royal 'Greed with the rofling at IR. Bizarre ratings.

Thought today was the day Danny Guthrie finally stepped up as a Reading player. Orchestrated things in the second half from deep

Absolutely +1

Bravo. Completely agree! Was our best player in the 1st half I thought.
