Make of this what you will but I was eating my lunch just a few minutes ago and I had a straw in there and somehow the other items in my sack had caused it to lose its shape slightly. As I was pulling the straw out of my lunch I was reading this thread and I asked myself who the next player we would sign would be. I glanced down at my straw and said out loud to no one in particular, 'It's bent" and then realized that I might have been answering my own rhetorical question.

Stay tuned...

I'm willing to say I was wrong, if proven otherwise but we will not be getting Darren bent, more chance of finding rocking horse shit

If you're wrong you won't need to say it, you will be wrong anyway. But I agree, although rocking horse shit is not easy to come by these days either.

Saw him come on for Villa last night. To say he missed a sitter is an understatement. Two yards out with the goalkeeper nowhere and he puts it over. To be fair he's a proven goal scorer but the reason he's not getting a start for Villa is that he is just about the laziest player around. When opponents dominate possession as every team does against us (I'd be interested to see the stats over the season) the last thing we need is a player who just stands around waiting for the ball.

Having Bent and Welbeck up front means sod all without some creativity behind them.

He might be lazy but its whether McD can get the best out of him. If he can and thats a big IF... we could well be onto a winner.

He is a quality finisher if given service in the box, but anonymous in a struggling side and would add little more than what we have as we have fairly decent finishers at the club already.

That's just simply not true. The guy has a 1 in 2 ratio throughout his career.

Any player would be anonymous if they're not fcuking playing!

And besides - Villa paid £24m for him. They won't let him go to a relegation and also would not sell cheaply.

If you bought a car for (say) £10k, would you expect to get your money back a couple of years later.

Players don't have a valuation just because that's what's been paid before. It's what they're worth now.

He would still be worth £8m + & Reading would never pay that sort of cash.
