Reading4eva Very disappointed we cannot fend off the only decent side in Scotland

wasnt everyone moaning about the lack of ambition and pointlessness of this signing anyway?

Blow by blow account of how it happened for me:

- Excited by news we are going to bring in Prem class players
- Dissapointed to find we are looking at some Rogic geezer I've never heard of
- Encouraged by rosies, decide to think positive and actually get into the idea
- Dissapointed again after hearing it's yet another deal we f/cked up
- £20 Akpan from the mighty Crawley Town fails to sweeten the pill
- Get's more bitter after reading McD trotting out the boring "Doyle/Long" cliche for the godzillionth time
- Try to work out how long the club will dine out on that spot of fortune. Another ten years perhaps?
- Never mind at least Sunzu would be a good s... oh. We don't want to pay £100 up front.
- On brink of signing a prem star? YEAAAAH!
- Oh. It's going to be Steve Shitfor6years Sidwell or some bloke called Chris nobody has ever given a shit about.
- Takes bunting down.

Thanks for spelling out the thoughts of tens of thousands of Reading fans everywhere.

It's early days yet though.

Like every player that plays for Celtic, Champions League.

Shall i go to a struggling Prem Team, get relegated and have to battle up through the Championship to get the wage and recognition i want?

or

Shall i play some easy games for Celtic in the league but get to play against any number of the top teams in Europe in the C/L to make myself look like the next Messi?

looks like there may be a chance this could still be on.....celtic are close to signing Juan Agudelo from MLS side Chivas USA and plan to use him as either an attacking midfielder or a striker. both young and play in the same position so cant see celtic signing both.

Not only that, who would want to live in/ around glasgow? I love scotland, but make sure i don't stop anywhere near glasgow! At least if it was ICT he'd be near the highlands, take in a bit of scenery!

Yes indeed. Plus add in virtually guaranteed silverware now Rangers have imploded out of the SPL.

Now I've blogged about it I'll make the point that the real parallel here is Scott Brown - who also moved to Celtic.

Scott Brown said not If I had chosen Reading I would probably be fighting a relegation battle next season and then maybe disappearing into the Championship. In two years' time people would have been saying, 'Remember that lad Scott Brown -- whatever happened to him?

That's the mentality we're up against.

Instead he went to Celtic and no-one in England rates him highly enough to come in for him. It might be nice winning easy trophies every season, but on a substandard stage, earning far less than he could have in the Premier League, had he actually been any good.

Apparently QPR have bidded for him now. I'll be gutted if he goes there.

It was a self fulfilling prophecy, there was no one else in our price range that could have kept us up.

Why has this thread not been moved back to the rumour and gossip section?

Because Brian was saying two days ago that we 'hope to keep him' but he's gone to train with Celtic for a week and assess his options

Don';t we know by now - if a rumour thread is moved here prematurely the deal always falls through?

If we want a chance on this, move it back to R&UG!

If he is not that keen we should tell him to bugger off! Playing in Scotland is a waste. The level of opponents is poor. Occasional appearances in the champs league is the only thing worth going for.
