If skimping on a transfer fee, again - and with high earners like Cole gone - funds someone like Sniejder, then the policy might look a good one; but surely Liverpool need to do more in the transfer market than just buy slightly over-priced Englishmen?

There's obviously more to consider with Sniejder than just his name - his form has been patchy, he has had injuries and he is the very definition of a wage mercenary - but £8m for someone who not long ago was considered the best attacking midfielder on the planet, and who is still only 28, isn't something Liverpool should be ignoring.

I am very much a realist and think Liverpool have actually done slightly better than expected so far in the league this season. 7th while i predicted 8th or 9th. No excuse for losing to Oldham today though. They wanted it more and thats simply not good enough.
